How can such a precious innocent little baby have to suffer so much in the first few days of life? Having to watch 2 brand new parents with their first child have to watch as he fights for his life, just breaks my heart to pieces. My sister had her baby too early who was born with a birth defect. When trying to correct the problem, it caused more problems and they had to perform surgery on him yesterday morning. They had to remove the greater majority of his intesines and now say that what he has left isn't enough to survive on. In trying to gather more info we found that the artificial nutrition they will have to give him will cause liver damage in the next 1-2 years and cause a need for a transplant. There is the option to do just an intestine transplant, but that is not available until, if he survives, 3 or 4 years of age. But even then found that about 60% of those who have the transplant make it 5 years, but no info for after the 5 years. This is so hard to have to watch and have nothing more that I can do. All the prayers for this innocent little baby and his parents will be sincerly appreciated. Thank you.
