What are you waiting for?

sometimes people get lung cancer who don't smoke — Wednesday, April 18, 2007 so we can't really prove that smoking causes lungcancer? So, I was a sheep a few days ago. They said everyone send this letter to your congressmen and stuff. I didn't even read the letter. That was stupid. After the I read the letter that I sent, I thought, - that was stupid fucking letter. Why the hell did I do that? But ohwell. Everyone makes mistaqkes I suppose. I got a response to it. Adam Hampton >> Dear Elected Official, I am very concerned about the failure of most elected officials to take action to solve the serious problems facing our state, nation, and world. I urge you to STEP IT UP. Become informed. Then take effective action. That's why you were elected. It's your responsibility. We are already experiencing serious consequences of climate change caused by the burning of coal, oil, and gas. Those consequences are becoming worse, with catastrophic climate disruptions certain to occur during our children's lifetimes unless action is taken now to reduce the emission of global warming pollutants into our delicate atmosphere. We can effectively combat global warming, reduce dependence on foreign oil, improve local air quality, and enhance national security. We expect and deserve leadership and action from you on these vital issues. I urge the United States Congress, the Utah Legislature, and Governor Huntsman to commit to a goal of an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. I also urge Congress, the Utah Legislature, and the Governor to take measures that will lead to the production of electricity by clean, renewable means; provide resources for transportation by means of mass transit and vehicles powered by clean fuels; and require that all buildings be constructed according to high-energy-performance standards. We can meet the challenges facing us. All it takes is the will and leadership that has been sorely missing to this point. Please provide that leadership . . . and STEP IT UP. Date: Mon, 16 Apr 2007 10:19:08 -0600 Subject: Re: Step It Up Adam, Would you explain the past climate changes the earth has experienced over the past thousands of years. For instance, as early as the 50's and 60's scientists were worried about the earth cooling. Where have they gone and what happened to the cooling? Over the thousands of years of the history of this earth it has gone through heating and cooling cycles. Could you explain why Mars is going through a warming cycle just like Earth and Mars doesn't use fossil fuels? Thank you I appreciate your response. Ok, you may have a point. It just depends on wich scientist you side with on the warming thing. Some forms of weed killer, accellerate the growth of the weed, basicly making it die of old age. When sprayed with it, and the weeds die, do we question wether it was the weed killer that killed the weed? They can die on their own too. People die on their own. There is no way someone could use that as a defense for murder. ( And no, I'm not complaining about the murder of dandilions here. ) They would have died eventually anyway, it happens. They don't even need to explain to them how other people died naturally. There may be changes that occur not from the the deteriorating ozone, but that doesn't mean, the ones that are occurring now, aren't a result of it. There are things that occur "naturally" and things that occurr naturally and otherwise. Like losing your hair. I'm 25. I happended to work near a bunr pit in iraq. There was often clouds of toxic smoke engulfing my site. My hair started falling out in Iraq. " Well it's just natually thinning of the hair. " I'M 25!!! It's not a natuall normall thing to lose my hair at 25! Some, if not most men, lose their hair with age. So whenever they lose thier hair, people are quick to say, " Well, that's just something that goes along with age. " But there are other other factors that are involved sometimes, such as poor health. They do their best to convince me ( as well as their selves ) that there is no corralation at all. They could be right, people can just natually lose their hair at 25. There's people who get lung cancer that don't smoke. But when people who do smoke get lungcancer, we don't normally say " Well, can you exlplain why people who don't smoke get lung cancer? " So it sounds to me like you are telling me that I might as well smoke, because people who don't smoke can get lung cancer too. There are also people who don't drink much that have problems with their liver. It just happens to be a natural occurance. Somehow chronic alchaholics with liver problems tend to get less sympathy than those who don't drink. Just because there are things that occur natually, doesn't mean we can't cuase them to occur on our own too. Despite that, It seems cleaner air is a good idea, along with less reliance on foreign oil. I should have read the letter I sent before I sent it. I'm not sure all what it has to do with national security. If it was me, I would have asked me to explain about the tie in national security. I would have said " Runn for office and see what you can do if you don't think I'm doing my best. " The letter has lots of problems and issues leading to the lack of progress on the issue. It really is an awefull letter for trying to accomplish anything. What the fuck is wrong witht the people who write the letters? Pssycho enviremeltalists who don't throuroghly think things through, I guess. Don't trust anyone. Always read stuff before you send it. Those are the lessons for the day. Oh, another thing to think about. Atleast over seas, there is drilling in a waste land. A desert. I'm not sure why people are fighting so hard to keep us out, or why we persist in being there. There's poeopl here that want do do things like destroy aslaska's wilderness, and increase the drilling in the seas, and stuff like that. Look people, if we are going to drill for oil somewhere, it might as well be in the middle east. Get your oil from the UGLY PLACES. It's really hard to make the desert a worse place than it
