Grief dominates
like emotional smog
Streetlights of past emotions still exist
Orange incandescence
wrestling with the gloom
I meander
through avenues of existence
Familiar
but darker now
The shadow of your passing
changing every moment
into an eternity of wondering why?
They tell me
“Hope never hurts”
When living without you
is a pain
that surpasses all description
But life must continue
with the memory of your laughter
as the dawn that follows
the darkest night
The spring that warms
the coldest winter
The light
beyond this darkness
I must survive till then
Until the time comes
when I can speak your name
and smile at the contentment
of your soul
