I have a tale to tell. Do come in and sit a bit before move on. Welcome to the Shadow stop by,I'm your host for the night. Here at the shadow stop by anything that happens;stays here if you know what I mean.You look a bit dry, pick your poisen. Rum,Wine,Beer,Vodka,Bit of O-,Coffee,Tea or Me. Now that your thirst seen to,how about a bit of talk? I'll take that nod as a yes. Very well how about a tale of two lovers and the one they loved?
To understand this tale you must start at the first meeting. It was a rainy night and here at the shadow stop by things were slow. I was siting here as you see me with a mug of warm O- with a shot of vodka as a chaser. When she walked in,at first I thought I was being vist by a spirit again. But as she came closer, I could smell her sweet body and hear her heart beat. I gave her a greeting just as I did you tonight. She said how about some red wine please.I went to get her wine, by the time I had return she sat in that chair to the right of you.Thats where the tale unfolds.
I asked her"what is your name dear?"
"Why my kind host, I have many names. But tonight I am called Sky."
"So Sky, what are you doing out and about in this part of the world. If you don't mind my asking?" She shifted a bit in her chair as I waited for her to reply. I could not stop the feeling that this sky was not what she seem to be,but do to my style I kept my peace.
"Well my host,I have been called here in this part of the world,by my lovers."
I shifted a bit and watched my O- shift a bit."I see,so the shadow stop by is to be a lovers meet." She just snuggled and smiled. Not a smile to be fearful of but not one to be trust as well.
"Yes and No,my kind host.You see they do not know that they are my lovers yet.They just know that they are called to by some un for seen thing."
I just noded and said nothing. Took a long sip of my O- and watched her drink her wine as if she had not drunk in years. Just as I was about to aske her when they'd be showing up, I heard a loud thump at the door. "Ahh,it seems you will not be my only visiter Sky." She noded as I got up and smoothed out my black suit. As I crossed overto the door, I thought I saw a flicker of red dance in her dark blue eyes.
Just as I reached the door to open it,the first of the two walked in. I greeted him as I did all my visiters.I went to get his beer,when I return he was siting in a chair next to Sky.I handed him his beer and return to my spot. I thought which way will this unfold.
"Hello,my name is Sky and that is Host. What is your name sir?"
"I'm know as Day.Nice to meet both of you.I thought for a second that I was lost. But then this charming place just seemed to show up,as if the gods themself had heard me."
"Yes, this part of the world is always changing. If you do not know her changes ,you can become a lost soul.So Day why have you wandor so far from what you know?" As I shifted in my chair, I could see heat coming off of them both.I Knew where this would lead and had a small fear for Day.After all any could see he was not world wise,which made him easy prey for hunters like myself and others.
"Yes Day do tell us what has made you stop here."
"Well I have come looking for my brother.For he has not return from his outing in this part,which took place 4 days ago."
As he said this I could have swear I had saw just a flicker of anger and fear in those dark blue eyes of hers.I thought to myself this night will not be boreing after all. Then we all took sips of our drinks.
"Oh dear,how hard it must be for you, to come to a place like this and on a hunt"
"Well yes but it is something I must do."
Then he reached over and grab her hand,I thought what a fool,but do to my style I do not get entaggled in hunter and prey afairs.So I just to a sip of my 0- and listen them talk about things I do not care about.Then when i was about to offer refills a knock came at my door.
As I head over to the door,I felt the room get still the kind of still that shows just before death shows up. I grabed thae handle and open it there before me was another young man. But at lest this one was some what world wise. I greeted him,and went to get his drink.
When I returned, all three of them were siting nicely.I could tell that both of them were geting more entangled in her as the seconds sliped by.I returned to my spot,were I found out that this new young man was Deek. The best friend of Days brother and the last one to see him alive.
"So Deek your saying that it was a shapeshifter who got my brother?"
"Yes Day that is what I'm saying,it could be nothing eles."
"Oh please!! You can not tell me Deek that you believe that. Please Host tell him he is wrong!!"
As all eyes turn on to me ,I took a sip of my O-,"Sky I would love to say that he is wrong, but I can not. Shapeshifters are all around these parts of the world. So it could be a shapeshifter,but as far as I know the ones around here do not go after humans."
AS I looked at them I could see fear in the eyes of the men.All I could see in skys eyes were emptyness.As they keept talking about things I did not care about,I could see that the men were geting sleepy.
"It looks like the rain will not be stoping anytime soon. You may use the rooms up the stairs." As I lead them up the stairs I could tell the mean were greatful,but Sky seem more mad then anything eles.
At the time I leftthem to go check on the horses, that were out in the stable,I thought to myself who will be alive when I return.
After I returned from the stable I could feel the stillness was gone,which meant only one thing death had been here.
As I reach the door to the room I wondered would Ihave to kill tonight. I open the door and there on the floor was all three of them dead. Just as I bent over to make sure the truely were did I heard the low hisss. I turn around there on the wall was a shapeshifter,a female from it's looks. I was just about to tell it to leave when it spoke.
"No Host there will be no need for that.I came here for her, she was my loverand my killer.At one time I was the man that Deek and Day had come for.But that part of me is dead. I told her she could have my life if I could have her to myself.She said yes wehad a deal.By her leader and father we belong to each other. If either of use broke the deal our death was to the one we had made the deal with. She knew and agreed to this,yet she ran. By law her death was mine,for she ran to find other lovers. So by rights of our laws Her death was mine and as for them two ,just look at them as payment for keeping her here untill she payed her due."
Then with a final hiss,it was gone as well as skys body.
Now my tale is done and it's time for you to move on. But remeber where ever your path leads you ,there is always a shadow stop by near by.
