Heath Ledger, a 2006 Academy Award nominee for his role in Brokeback Mountain, on Tuesday afternoon was found dead at a New York apartment which is thought to be his residence, an NYPD spokesperson tells the Associated Press. According to TMZ, Ledger was found in his bed by a housekeeper after she went to wake him when his masseuse arrived. Law enforcement sources at this point believe it was not a crime.
The AP reports, however, that the death may possibly be drug-related.
Ledger, 28, had a daughter with actress Michelle Williams. The couple reportedly lived in Brooklyn together until they separated last year. — Anna Dimond
