Potential Counseling Clients and Some Words of Wisdom ( Josie & Kevin )
1. For the downsized -- who can't understand why loyalty wasn't rewarded
Nobody owes you a living. You can't rely on an employer for your whole existence,
they can only supplement you. Compute your minimal needs and try to get an
employer to supply that. Understand which of your limits are artificial and can be changed.
2. For the downtrodden -- oppressed, out oftime to fill in forms again and again
Needless to say, your typing skills come in handy filling out forms. This is simplified if
you have a generic form already well prepared. Or get a friend to do it for you.
3. For the down-of-luck--can't postpone punishment for admitted goofups and have damaged their reputation
Only moving to another location may solve a reputation screwup. Honesty is the best policy
--have the attitude to make amends, a willingness to change. You have to know what you're
good at to have confidence.
4. For the down-and-out--bankrupt, out of cash with no prospects
Allow the people that step forward to help you, being humble.
Otherwise the next step in prison or homelessness.
5. For the downcast -- feel blackballed, hexed, jinxed
Have the courage to actually ask someone if they've blackballed you.
If you know what you know you can't be fucked with.
6. For the downfallen--fired from a high rank and can't get back to comparable position
Nearly any job is better than no job. Get your foot in the door and show that
you're a reliable worker and you'll get the opportunity to advance.
Listen to music to re-learn how to relax.
7. For the downhearted--dejected and depressed
Simplify you life. Do away with anything unfruitful that you've been pining after.
Build new dreams from the serendipitous coincidences of your life. Do something
physically active.
