What causes euqality? — Monday, May 07, 2007 That's the question of the day. It's one I don't really know how to answere. Sorry if you wree expecting one. lol. I've seen various circumstances that seem to cause discrimination, and predjudice, and other unfairnesses, but I really don't know what causes fairness, or equality, or things of that sort. Can the mere elimination of the things that cause the opposite, cause fairness? I think it must take something more than that. What caused fairness in my life? hmmm... rules sometimes I suppose. However they also caused some unfairness too. I guesse I was treated pretty fairly by my family growing up, maybe that influenced my belief in fairness. But people can be treated good, and even fair growing up, and still not believe in equality, and fairness. It seems important to note, that everyone has a different idea of what is fair, and what is equal though. Some people are ok with things as long as it's " fair to them ". The people who didn't live in the barracks didn't seem to have much of a problem with their lack of heat in november. It somehow seemed fair to them. maybe thier view was " If you want a heated living area, get married. " Just as it's easy for the conservative guy, that never had long hair or piercings, or a color of hair that wasn't borring or ugly, to make rules against anything not being conservative in his mind. It's easy for some people to make rules, when they don't directly affect themselves. So, maybe people making rules that govern themselves, and not other people leads to equality, or fairness. Because it's less likely that people would impose unfair rules on themselves. The people that live in the houses, don't have the proper perspective to make rules for the people who live in the barracks. Back to the golden rule. Would the people in the houses trust the people in the barracks to make rules for them??? No, probably not, and they don't really give a shit because that is vary unlikly to happen since anyone with rank enought to make rules is given a house. I think this is a key flaw in the system. People who make rules for others should be foreced to see things from the perspscective os those who they govern, as much as possible. So, who ever makes the rules for the barracks, should be forced to live in the barracks, and not get bas, or bah. So who would want that job? A fair minded individual that understands that most of the time, people only abuse their power, or make unfair rules, if those rules don't apply to them. GEE, WHAT A CONCEPT? Sometmies being treated unfairly, will make someone think more about being fair. They realize how awefull it is to experience discrimination, so they do their best to treat others so they don't feel that way. However, it can work the opposite way. The whole cycle of abuse thing. They were treated unfairly, and in that, they learned that same behaviour. So then they treat other people that same way. Some justify unfairness as being fair, because it's not fair for other peoipel to be treated better than them. So to them, in short, Everyone should get fucked, because they got fucked, and if someone gets treated better than them, than it's not fair. Shorter than that -- " If I get fucked, then everyone should get fucked, till the end of time. "Otherwise, it's not fair? So they are saying it's fair, to be fair. To me, it's an Odd senses of equality, to others, it's just what they know. I guess in that regaurd, being fair, doesn't always mean being equal. I think we havew to realize that people make mistakes. If you are doing sdomething for someone; say building a boat. That boat sinks due to some flaw in your design. ( Idealisticly )-> You fix the boat, or build them a new boat that won't sink. Then another guy comes along and wants you to build them a boat. Is the fair thing to do, build him a boat that sinks first? because otherwixe it's not fair to the other guy who had to go through his boat sinking? Or is it not fair to build a guy a boat that you know will sink? After all this, I still don't know what causes fairness, or equality. If you know, please share you thoughts. I guesse your take on the cause depends on your opinion of what it is. So also please explain wiether you should build a boat and let it sink for the next guy, or if you should build a boat that works for the next guy. And maybe there is a consideration of if " fairness " and "equality " should be present when making all decisions. Sometimes I think it's necesary to be more than fair. Also, to be fair to whom?? ( I know, the whom sounds stupid. lol. I just decieded to throw that in there. ) Is it more impotant at this point ( the second boat ) to be fair to the guy that you built the first boat for, or the guy that you are building the boat for now??? My view is fairly obviously the one who you are building a boat for now. Yah, the other guy got fucked, and you can't help that now, but that doesn't mean you have some sort of sick obligation to fuck everyone after him too!!!!
