My business is located in the Cherokee National Forest of the Smoky Mountains. For about a year now we have been troubled by finding a substance as shown below. I am serious. We thought that it was animal droppings. We would find 10-15 piles all deposited within a short time frame. They would appear under my desk chair - while I was at my desk. They would show up on my desk. Sometimes they are scattered around the factory while people are working. After hundreds of occurrences no one has seen an animal. They always appear late morning or early afternoon while people are around. I have a web cam recording in a place where it is likely to occur. It always manages to be outside of the field of view.
I have consulted wildlife experts and the best explanation that they have is that it is a mink. Male minks mark their territory with feces. There is a creek behind the building. I am doubting the mink theory. I can't explain how it enters or why it hasn't been spotted.
I am a total skeptic, but with this and some other minor things that have been happening, we suspect ghosts. Please help.
