A Sense of Innocence
As I approach
Her eyes cast downward in shame,
As I peer into her eyes
I see the fear stricken child inside,
As she speaks to me
I hear the quiver in her voice,
As I move closer to her
Her body begins to tremble,
As she runs from me
I smell the fear that consumes the air,
As she hides from me
I feel her presence in my world,
She will always run
She will always hide
No matter what she does
I will always be there,
Watching, waiting, listening.
