Light the Candle and raise your hands and say..."On this night and in this hour; I call upon the ancient power of (your choice of deity) I ask that you assist me in my dedication ritual as I take a new path in my life." "I have cast this circle this night to perform the act of dedication of my mind, body and spirit to the Goddess and God and to the Religion and Science of Witchcraft. Source Unknown ROOM BLESSING/CLEANSING/ PROTECTION SPELL This is a bare-bones, generic spell. Use when the energies in your home or in a particular room start feeling "off" or negative. This spell can be tweaked to suit your particular method of working or use as is. You will need: Small cauldron or other fire-proof bowl for burning herbs - one that you are able to carry. Your favorite protection oil Clearing herbs such as sage, cedar, rosemary, etc. Charcoal tablet (a half tablet would suffice) Matches Trace the pentagram starting from the top point - in this spell you are invoking Spirit. Meditate before you begin - make sure you're in the right state of mind to proceed. An Alpha state is the best. The Spell: Light charcoal in bowl/cauldron and when burning, drop a pinch or two of your clearing herbs into the cauldron. Take a minute to take in the energy of the herbs. Carry the vessel around the room - paying special attention to corners, closets, and places negative energy seems to linger. Project a clear, clean, white light with your mind and say: "By my will I banish all darkness and let in the light." (repeat around the room) When you've thoroughly cleansed the room, return to the center and put down your cauldron. Take up the oil and go to the North. Trace a pentagram on the wall (window sill, door frame, etc.) Say: From the North I call to Thee. Blessings of the Spirit Be upon this place. Go to the East and say: From the East I call to Thee. Blessings of the Spirit Be upon this place. Continue to the South and West, changing the blessing accordingly. When complete, return to the center of the room and place more herbs on the charcoal. Stand still a bit and feel the energy of the room/space. Again, project white light outward, mentally filling all the nooks and crannies. When the energy feels right to you say: This room is sealed Protected from harm. Light replaces darkness As I will, so mote it be. Note: This spell can obviously be expanded for an entire house. Just begin in the center of the house instead of the center of the room. If you are uncomfortable calling on "Spirit" for protection, you can substitute the name of your Deity.
A Spell for Improving Negative Thoughts Source: Lepgirl You will Need: a glass jar honey sugar water wooden popsicle stick permanent marker Put a mixture of one third honey, water, and sugar in a glass jar with a screw top. Take the popsicle stick and write the name of the person who is creating problems through negative thoughts or actions on one side. Place stick in the jar and at least once a day, shake the jar vigorously. The person who is having negative thoughts will have an improved ability to relate to those persons or things he didn't like before. If this person is someone who is causing you a specific problem, when you shake the jar say: Sweet, sweet thoughts of me, you will think, constantly.
Design a ritual for yourself. One thing that has been lost in many modern religious traditions is the powerful experience of the personal ritual. It is one thing to know a religious or spiritual truth; it can be quite another to actually experience that truth in a deep and meaningful way. Ritual is perhaps the oldest and most successful way of bridging this gap. Too often today when the importance of ritual is recognized, it is seen with a sort of superstitious awe--as something far removed from the average person and available only through the mediation of professionals. While the sense of tradition and community that can be invoked with these formal rituals should not be discounted, neither should be the personal ritual. To design a ritual for yourself, first start with a goal--healing yourself, healing the Earth, celebrating an event or achievement (no matter how "minor"), seeking strength for the present or the future, improving your relationship with the Divine, removing yourself (temporarily) from the hustle and bustle of life, deepening your own spiritual understanding- To design a ritual for yourself, first start wi Decide what form of Deity you want/need to invoke. What do you need from Her/Him/It/Them- Decide what form of Deity you want/need to invoke. What do you need from Her/Him/It/Them- -healing? strength? support? a chance to experience them? to explore them Then consider the physical space you will use. This can be anything from your desk to your room to a park to a mountain retreat, depending on the ritual, your needs, and their availability to you. If at all possible designate a sacred space for the ritual. This can be as simple as envisioning a protected circle around you as you sit at your desk or closing the door of a room or as elaborate as a circle physically inscribed on the Earth or in the Air with candles or incense. The space need not be permanent--it only need last as long as the ritual itself--but make a point of designating the space as sacred when you begin and then releasing it back to the world when you are through. What will you use to assist you in your invocation? Words are powerful and will work alone--extemporaneo usWhat will you use to assist you in your invocation? Words are powerful and will work alone--extemporaneo usus prayer, recited poetry or prose--but consider trying some more physical ritual elements as an addition to (or a replacement for!) the words. If you have had little experience with these, you may feel silly when you first start. Don't. Remember that there is a very good reason that these aids have been used my many different cultures for thousands of years--they work. They can be invaluable in removing you from the world of your everyday life and involving you directly in the ritual. (In There are many types of ritual items that have been used over the millennia--incense, candles, flowers, stones, food, drink, clothing--when possible, always look for connections that are meaningful to you. There are many reference works on symbols that list the associations that various cultures have made with colors, scents, and shapes over the centuries. If these work for you, fine--but don't be afraid to designate your own meanings or to change them as appropriate. At different times I have used a green candle to symbolize money, jealousy, or Spring. The important thing, once again, is what meaning does it have for you? I've mentioned some of the more popular items here. But remember these are only starters. It is vitally important to add your own items and make your own combinations. Ritual is not a matter of reading "light three sticks of sandalwood incense and one blue candle" and following the instructions. The real power of ritual comes from what you bring to it. Be on the lookout for possibilities that will have specific meaning for you. If you notice a particular stone, one that seems to "speak" to you in some way or that serves as a reminder or symbol of something for you, pick it up. Use it in ritual--hold it in your hand as you pray or rest your incense upon it. If you are looking for strength and courage in a new business venture, try placing a business card on the altar as you pray. If you are trying to remove an emotion, influence, or person from your life, try writing the name or word on a slip of paper, concentrating all your feelings, entanglements, worries, and temptations into it, then burning it and watching the connection to you float away on the smoke. Some "trappings" of ritual can also be constants that help you to enter into a ritual mindframe. Perhaps you always wear a specific piece of clothing or jewelry, always begin with a short prayer or invokation, or always include a special color of candle. It's fine to have constants--you may even want to repeat the exact same ritual at times--as long as the ritual does not become petrified. Once you stop thinking about what you are doing, you've simply found yourself yet another form of mundane routine. So take some time to design and carry out a ritual, no matter how short or "trivial." Have some fun with it if you like, ritual need not be serious to be meaningful. (But do remember to take basic precautions: in particular make sure that only the things you light are going to burn!) And ritual need only to be meaningful to be effective. _© Dianne T. Centering and Grounding a Room Using Stones Crystals amplify energy, and it is for this reason that they are used in energy healing as a way to amplify a particular healing vibration. SIMPLE SOLUTION: Some are so strong and powerful their vibration can shift the energy in a room, and even an entire house or ecosystem. "It is believed that crystals are natural purifiers of subtle energies because they absorb negative energies and transmit only those frequencies of a positive, beneficial nature," writes Richard Gerber, MD, in Vibrational Medicine. Learn how to center and ground a room in your home using stones! English author Sue Phillips, in her book, Healing Stones, has taught me much about finding healing stones just there, where you are, in your garden, or in a field. Whenever I thought of finding new stones for energy healing purposes, I always went to a store!. I hadn't looked out of my front door at the rocks there, or spent time with the pebbles brought home from ocean beaches. I thought of rocks, stones and pebbles as so inanimate it never occurred to me to even try to pay attention to them. I ignored them! Little did I know that I was ignoring power houses of energy right there in my backyard. By placing big stones– everyday stones that are a eight inches to a foot high or so-- in the four corners of a room, you take away energetic shadows, the energy of a low vibration. By taking away square corners, you make the room a circle, echoing the great stone circles of the past. Square rooms made into circles bring centering and grounding, as well as softening, to the room. The sense of the soul is often represented by being the center of a circle, and when your room is a circle, it is symbolic of your soul being in the center of the circle. Being in the center of a circle offers healing to the heart center. The circle embraces you, and gives you safety. Just make sure to keep adjusting the placement of the stones until they feel just right. (author unknown but greatly appreciated)

Moon Water Ritual for a Peaceful Home ------------ ------ Fill a glass bowl or jar with clean water. Place either a quartz crystal, moonstone, or both in the water. Add three drops each of rose and lavender oil, and set the water outside overnight in a place where the light of the Moon can shine upon it. Say this blessing upon the water: "Moonlight, bless this water, clean and pure. May it bring peace and simple joy to my home. " On the following morning, pour the water into a spray bottle or covered jar, allowing the stones to remain in the water if possible. Use the elixir to mist each room of your home, and visualize peace and harmony. You can add the rest of the water mixture to your bath water, or use it to anoint objects. ~ by: Ember

House Happy Charm from Seasons This is a small sachet pillow stuffed with good things, an excellent gift when people newly in love move in together. All the while you're assembling it, focus on their hopes, dreams and your bright wishes for their hearth. Make a small pillow (I usually do a 5x5 square) from an interesting material. Leave one end open for stuffing. Gather, mix and empower the following herbs: Gather, mix and empower the following herbs: Sage and Sandlewood for blessing and protection Lavender for domestic tranquility Rose petals to honor their love Vervain for bright witchery A couple drops of cinnamon oil. Stuff the pillow and sew the open end shut Decorate as desired In sacred space, dedicate it under the auspices of the Lord and the Lady If you're blessing your friends home for them, include the pillow in the ritual. If they're doing their own home blessing, offer it as a house warming gift.
Ritual for Releasing Anger Most forms of abuse result in powerful feelings of anger or rage, which must be expressed in a safe, positive fashion if it is not to either destroy you or others. I'd like to present an alternate method of dealing with the anger through a ritual--allowing you to purge the energy safely and then let it go. For this ritual, you will need some quiet time, a red candle, a black or a white candle, paper and writing implements, a container in which to burn paper, and matches. Any other symbols, magickal gear, or accoutrements you wish to bring to the ritual are yours to choose; I'm just presenting the bare bones. Once you have gathered your stuff and set up your quiet space, you will want to call in a circle to protect yourself, and to protect others from the energies you plan to release. Face the east, and call upon the air to help you express your rage clearly, to help you focus mentally while you release your emotions safely within the circle. Face the south, and call upon fire to help your rage burn up and out of you, burning away the past and the trauma that has enraged you. Face the west, and call upon the water to help your emotions flow freely within the circle, cleansing your spirit and restoring yourself. Face the north, and call upon the earth to allow you to safely ground your rage, and to sustain and support your through the releasing process. As you call in the directions, visualize a circle of white light forming around your working space, shielding you and protecting you with the elements you've called in. (I have sometimes found that it also helps to call upon the archangels to further strengthen the circle-- Raphael for east, Michael for south, Gabriel for west, and Uriel for north-- if your beliefs trend that way.) Then when you feel the circle is secure, call upon the Higher Powers in whatever form you relate to them to work with you and shield you through the course of the ritual. Now, light the red candle. By its light, begin to write or draw what it is that is enraging you, whether it be some form of emotional abuse that trashed your worth as a person, sexual abuse that made you into an object, physical abuse that broke your body's connection with your mind, or whatever. Focus on making the issues clear to yourself and the Higher Powers that you've called in. Focus on how the actions made *you* feel, not on the other person's guilt or motivations, or on revenge on the other person. (You can do this part ahead of time, if you want. I wrote a long letter to my mother explaining exactly what I remembered and felt out of our abusive relationship, being careful to keep it in "I-statements" and not start blaming her. Blame may be necessary for some folks, but until you release the rage within, I feel that you cannot assess blame rationally and safely.) Next, hold the paper between your hands, focus your awareness on the red candle, and begin to chant, shout, scream, or make whatever sounds help you to feel the rage come up and leave you. Send the rage into the red candle. Focus your rage on the red candle, watching the flames burn brighter and hotter as the force of your anger fuels them. When you feel that you've released the red rage as much as you can, light the papers on which you've drawn or written your problem and drop them into the container so they can burn out. (Do remember to put something under the container to protect the surface it rests on--we did this ritual as a group a couple of years ago and caught the carpet on fire.) After the papers have begun to burn down, light the black or white candle. (The choice of color depends on how you wish to focus on restoring yourself--black represents the energy of transformation and white represents and energy of peace and purification. ) Focus on what you'd like to replace the rage with--peace, self-esteem, happiness, or whatever. Let the energy of the new emotions fill you up. Write or draw on a new piece of paper those things that you want to find in yourself and your life now that you've released the poisonous rage that was holding you back. You could even take the ashes from the burnt paper and write the name of the emotion on a new piece of paper to help you focus. Feel the healing begin. When you are comfortably calm again, release the energy of the circle. Visualize it sinking back into the earth as you thank the elements at each direction for watching over you. Thank the Higher Powers for their insight and help. Let the candles burn completely out.
