To cut or not to cut?

mum expired. [FRIENDS]

So I just woke up from nap and I was woken up by my child (who was sleeping next to me) crawling all over my medium long hair. This happens a lot at it is painful. I am in the process of growing it out so I can be like a mermaid and cover my chest with it lol lol lol ... just b/c it seemed like fun, but in the process I have fallen in love with it long and have not yet achieved my hysterical goal.

Should I cut it off so that my child can't climb on it anymore?
Should I continue to grow it like a mermaid?
Or do you know a way to comfortably tie my hair back while I sleep so I no longer have to worry about it? If so, please comment what that might be.
