Oh...

wait... doesn't matter- I did something awesome tonight.

First off
let me just say that as a person that averages eating a bowl of rice once per day (seriously)
I sure do get tired of American long grain

*shrugs*

anything more need be stated?

Didn't think so.

So I picked up a big bag of basmati rice and put in a batch for dinner.
~ orgasmically different.

Sure I'll occasionally switch to short grain or brown rice but there's something... rich and crispy
about basmati, more fragrant too

And since I went to Sam's last night to pick up a brick of food for a hunger drive we were sponsoring at work, I decided to grab a bushel of mushrooms

cuz
let's face it
Sam's is bulk ogtfo

So I had to make sure I could use whatever I picked up, no matter how much storage room I had

I don't have the means to dry all these mushrooms so I came up with a pretty awesome idea >>

This is a mushroom... curry... gravy... sauce...

I took about one cup of thai red curry (that goopy stuf that usually has chopped nuts or peanut butter in it) and added about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of crushed porcinis

then I blended it on high

added a bit of salt and pepper

it came out this THICK brown gravy that had this zing to it...
but really the curry just served as an afternote and an imulsifier
it was MUSHROOM
And it probably would've gone great with some fresh herbs too.

Anyhow
I fried 2 country-apple sausages I got from the farmer's market
deglazed with the mushroom sauce, and then picked it all up out of my pot with the rice.

It was so
god
damn
good.

I was thinking to myself "pad thai sauce" but realized I had already mixed my sunflower seeds with my granola
...
and I had mushrooms.

This was a very happy accident.

I still have a crate of baby spinach
a bushel of mushrooms
and an arm full of sweet peppers.

Something tells me I'll be making black beans and rice this weekend too
with a whole slab of ribs thrown in to disintegrate and penetrate.

I just have to make up my mind on which surplus of food to use up first.

I've also got three ribeyes (which translates to 6 meals for me) at least once of those needs to go in the freezer before the end of saturday...
