15-year-old killed as driver flees police Thursday, August 9, 2007 3:22 AM CDT Post a Comment | Email this story | Print this story Times Staff Report VALPARAISO | A 15-year-old Louisiana girl was killed Wednesday in a crash in which the driver of the car she was riding in was fleeing from police and hit a semitrailer, police said. The driver, a 16-year-old Valparaiso boy, is under guard at a local hospital and is expected to be charged today. The crash occurred at 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Ind. 49 and County Road 400 North, also known as Vale Park Road. Three other teens were in the car. The driver, who police did not name, was wanted on a warrant for violating his juvenile probation. Brandie N. Broussard, the left back-seat passenger, died from internal injuries, Porter County police Sgt. Timothy Emmons said in a news release. Rachel McNeil, 16, the front-seat passenger, suffered internal injuries, and Robert D. Norris, 17, the right back-seat passenger, had bone fractures and internal injuries. Broussard, McNeil and Norris were from Metairie, La., a suburb of New Orleans. Emmons said the four were acquaintances, but he didn't know why the teens from Louisiana were in Porter County. Police said the incident began when a Porter County detective went to a home on Vale Park Road to speak to the Valparaiso boy who was wanted for questioning in a series of burglaries in the Hebron area and also was wanted for violating probation. The boy has previous convictions on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and false informing. Emmons said Detective Sgt. Jeff Biggs was speaking to the 16-year-old's mother when the teen drove up in a red 1994 Saturn, saw police and drove off. Biggs stopped the car a short distance away. When Biggs approached the car, the driver sped off, traveling north on Silhavy Road and then east on Vale Park Road. As Biggs tried to catch up with the car, the driver ran a red light at Ind. 49, struck the fuel tank of a semitrailer and became wedged. The fuel tank of the semi ruptured, and fuel spilled onto the car and road. Biggs, Officer Gene Hopkins and several medics attempted to remove the driver and passengers. The driver began fighting with police and Hopkins suffered a deep cut on his wrist, Emmons said. Once the driver and two passengers were removed, Valparaiso firefighters began a long and complicated effort to extricate Broussard, who was in the back seat. She suffered severe injuries and later died at Porter hospital in Valparaiso, police said. The driver of the semi was identified by police as John J. Williams, 35, of Toledo. He and witnesses told police he drove on a green light on Ind. 49. Police said he tested negative for alcohol. The Valparaiso boy who was driving is under guard at Porter hospital in Valparaiso. He was uncooperative with police and refused to provide a blood sample, Emmons said. Police obtained the sample after getting a warrant. Metairie girl is killed in crash in Indiana Teenage driver was fleeing police Thursday, August 09, 2007 By Daniel Monteverde A Metairie girl was killed and two Metairie teens were injured in a car crash in Valparaiso, Ind., on Wednesday afternoon, the Porter County Sheriff's Department said. About 2:15 p.m., a car that Brandie N. Broussard, 15; Rachel McNeil, 16; and Robert D. Norris, 17, were riding in struck the fuel tank of a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Indiana 49 and Porter County Road 400 North, also known as Vale Park Road, the Sheriff's Department said. The crash occurred while the unidentified 16-year-old driver attempted to flee from police. While a Porter County Sheriff's Department detective was checking the Vale Park Road home of the 16-year-old boy, wanted for questioning in a series of burglaries and on a warrant for violating his juvenile parole, the suspect pulled up in a red 1994 Saturn his mother owned. When the suspect saw Sgt. Jeff Biggs speaking to his mother, he left. A short distance away, the Sheriff's Department said, Biggs was able to pull over the car, but the suspect, who was driving the car, sped away. As Biggs attempted to catch up to the car, the driver entered the intersection of County Road 400 and Indiana 49, where he ran a red light and collided with the tractor-trailer, hitting its fuel tank. Biggs, Officer Gene Hopkins and several emergency medical technicians and firefighters worked to remove the occupants: the driver, McNeil, Norris and Broussard. One of the passengers told police he tried to get the driver to pull over, the Sheriff's Department said. All four teens were rushed to Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, where Broussard died from her injuries. Sgt. Timothy Emmons, a spokesman for the Porter County Sheriff's Department, said Wednesday night that McNeil, Norris and the driver were recovering at the hospital. The suspect is being held under guard at the hospital. Emmons said all the passengers had "obvious injuries" and some minor internal injuries. While he didn't know all the details of the Metairie teens' relationship to the suspect, he said at least one of them was an acquaintance of the suspect and had traveled to Indiana "in the last day or two." Emmons said the suspect was a resident of Valparaiso. He said he did not know whether the suspect had ever lived in Louisiana. The Indiana State Police are investigating the crash, Emmons said, and any new charges will be determined when detectives can confer with Porter County prosecutors. . . . . . . . When I was in a car wreck last month there was a speial little girl who goes by flower pot who came to help take care of me for week. Well tonight I ws given a call by another boy who calls me mama D to tell me Flower Pot was killed earlyer today..Her boy friend was running from the cops and she was begging him to stop when he ran a red light and under a simi truck. This little angel is gone and Robert and I are trying to figger out what the hell is wrong with these kids.. Anyway I know alot of people know Flower Pot and would want to know ..Rest in peace little one,We'll miss you..

Just arived home from court for the restraining order i filed for judge granted it but this ass sat there saying ( the guy who jumped me ) that he was raised better than to touch a woman...the judge didnt want to see the pics but i think he knew the score cause not only is the guy not alllowed ANY where near me or my home if ANY thing happens to me or my things he will serve 6 months in jail also he was ordered within 6 months to pay me back my court costhe thinks he just got out of paying lol....the judge also told me ( on the side on the sly ) to throw everything thay have here out NOT to sell it or try to keep anything since it has been over 60 days getting close to 90..< evil smile > hope the guy can find his bike i just gave away that will be said it was dug out the trash LMAO i may be out over $5000.00 but this ass has NOTHING but his clothes he took left...pay backs are a bitch lol

Getting ready to leave now for the vets....I thsnk everyone for their prayers but I'm heading over there to have her put down she is not doing well right now and she aint expecting it but the cancer ball has gotten much bigger the last tow days and is bleeding again.... This morning around 5am ( 4/23 ) i was woke up by the two dog's ( Koda and Kietha ) barking thinking thay needed to just go out to potty I got up and dressed and took them out..Guess I should have turned the cameras on cause we had a prowler....And the frist to chase him off?...Yep you guessed it..Kietha is up and running ,A little wobbly but she is doing real good right now. Boy is that vet going to be suprised but thats another reason why I refused to just put her down...just incase it was a bad spell. I really belived she was done her time had come but I guess with all the prayers you all sent her helped..Thank You..It may sound crewl but with two years of this I was truly praying Kietha would pass in her sleep...surounded by Koda and Willow ( the kitten ) I just dont know how much more her nore I can take of these spells but this was the worst one and Reaux ( the vet ) and I both thought was going to be the last one..
