My life has been long
Obstacle's always in my way
Life has a funny outlook
to me each and every day
every time I feel I have accomplished a goal or task
something else comes at me
so i never ask
"can it get worse"
Yes I know it can
but every challenge given to me
I grasp it hard in hand
I may break down and cry
or feel depressed and blue
but god I lift my head up
and then i pray to you
Please give me the strength
to make it through this day
I want to give you all I can
In every sort of way
But every time I feel I have done as you have asked
I wake up in the morning and find you have given me another task
I was always told things happen for a reason
But what reason is behind all the sadness that I have lived
If you open up my heart you will see there is nothing left to give
So fill my heart with love, kindness and compassion
fill my soul with strength
To make it through this day
Because dear lord I don't know what to do
if you take my son away and home to live with you
