The Witches’ Spell Act IV, Scene 1 from Macbeth (1606) by William Shakespeare A dark Cave. In the middle, a Caldron boiling. Thunder. Enter the three Witches. 1 WITCH. Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d. 2 WITCH. Thrice and once, the hedge-pig whin’d. 3 WITCH. Harpier cries:—’tis time! ’tis time! 1 WITCH. Round about the caldron go; In the poison’d entrails throw.— Toad, that under cold stone, Days and nights has thirty-one; Swelter’d venom sleeping got, Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot! ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting, Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 3 WITCH. Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf; Witches’ mummy; maw and gulf Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark; Root of hemlock digg’d i the dark; Liver of blaspheming Jew; Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse; Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips; Finger of birth-strangled babe Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,— Make the gruel thick and slab: Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron, For the ingrediants of our caldron. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Cool it with a baboon’s blood, Then the charm is firm and good.

The wheel has turned The seasons spun The year ends as well as begun The Ancients spoke They are revered We hear their call that much is clear Between the worlds we go once more As we walk through the sacred door The cycles of life, we weave the web Of things we experience in both soul and head The Lord and Lady join us too To celebrate the cycles as we all move They come to us as Sage and Crone To share with us things yet unknown This is the harvest of goals set The final harvest of three Did you reap the fruits that you wanted? Or did you find your harvest in lack? The growth of desires rest on your shoulders The job of the grower is yours While the Lord and the Lady will aid you The field is not theirs to do. Be not afraid of the death here It enfolds in a cold chilly cloak It comes to bring balance to the cycle And the promise of life invoke.

Cruisers, Mabon & Peace...

My little island is well protected, yet some still feel above the law. I went for my usual run yesterday morning and on the return trip, my route passes an elementary school. There is usually a cruiser parked close by to ensure traffic obeys the speed limit in the school zone. School already started and was in session and the cruiser was parked in a church parking lot across the street. Unfortunately as I was approaching the drive, a car sped by and the officer pulled out to enforce the speed and clipped me, knocking me down. I was already a bit winded, sweaty and just wanted to get home and rehydrate and get into the shower, but went off on him like a fly on shit (pardon the expression) and was not going to the hospital and waste taxpayer money and time to take care of a little bruising and soreness. I should have filed an incident report but was not thinking clearly after my belittling an officer of the law negligence and to be more careful - for it could have been worse and I bounced back up quite rapidly. If it was an elderly person or a kid running late to school, or a mother with a stroller he would have been knee deep in trouble, but I respect those who serve and protect, as many in my family were officers. Oh well, life goes on and I'll be ok. Still icing my left side and will heal soon enough. Wishing you a most wonderful weekend. {{{Hugs}}} n18950148496_931.jpg

On this day...

My dear friends, I know all too well the mixed emotional roller coaster of this day in history and will never forget. I was on the 74th floor of WTC 2 for a breakfast meeting with my clients at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter at 8:30 AM. Personal photographs I took in the aftermath are in my pictures on my Care2 network site along with some poems, verse and collection of shared materials in my blogs. I have come to the realization that I made it through this atrocity and ordeal for some greater purpose in life and in essence, was reborn to live simply, so that others may simply live. Everything happens for a reason... and even though I mourn the loss of relatives, loved ones, acquaintances, co-workers, comrades, friends and strangers alike - I am blessed to have memories of shared moments and connections to every and all that is, and appreciate each and every waking moment. My son is serving his third tour in Afghanistan and I keep a strong vigil for his and all others safe return and peace come to fruition one day at a time. Today is a gift to be opened and treasured... for living in the past makes one lose the present. Wishing you peace, love and joy - today and every day. In love and light, Victoria present Pictures, Images and Photos

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

cinco de Mayo The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. Mexico declared its independence from mother Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. And it took 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers were told and forced to leave Mexico. So, why Cinco de Mayo? And why should Americans savor this day as well? Because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862. The French had landed in Mexico (along with Spanish and English troops) five months earlier on the pretext of collecting Mexican debts from the newly elected government of democratic President (and Indian) Benito Juarez. The English and Spanish quickly made deals and left. The French, however, had different ideas. Under Emperor Napoleon III, who detested the United States, the French came to stay. They brought a Hapsburg prince with them to rule the new Mexican empire. His name was Maximilian; his wife, Carolota. Napoleon's French Army had not been defeated in 50 years, and it invaded Mexico with the finest modern equipment and with a newly reconstituted Foreign Legion. The French were not afraid of anyone, especially since the United States was embroiled in its own Civil War. The French Army left the port of Vera Cruz to attack Mexico City to the west, as the French assumed that the Mexicans would give up should their capital fall to the enemy -- as European countries traditionally did. Under the command of Texas-born General Zaragosa, (and the cavalry under the command of Colonel Porfirio Diaz, later to be Mexico's president and dictator), the Mexicans awaited. Brightly dressed French Dragoons led the enemy columns. The Mexican Army was less stylish. General Zaragosa ordered Colonel Diaz to take his cavalry, the best in the world, out to the French flanks. In response, the French did a most stupid thing; they sent their cavalry off to chase Diaz and his men, who proceeded to butcher them. The remaining French infantrymen charged the Mexican defenders through sloppy mud from a thunderstorm and through hundreds of head of stampeding cattle stirred up by Indians armed only with machetes. When the battle was over, many French were killed or wounded and their cavalry was being chased by Diaz' superb horsemen miles away. The Mexicans had won a great victory that kept Napoleon III from supplying the confederate rebels for another year, allowing the United States to build the greatest army the world had ever seen. This grand army smashed the Confederates at Gettysburg just 14 months after the battle of Puebla, essentially ending the Civil War. Union forces were then rushed to the Texas/Mexican border under General Phil Sheridan, who made sure that the Mexicans got all the weapons and ammunition they needed to expel the French. American soldiers were discharged with their uniforms and rifles if they promised to join the Mexican Army to fight the French. The American Legion of Honor marched in the Victory Parade in Mexico, City. It might be a historical stretch to credit the survival of the United States to those brave 4,000 Mexicans who faced an army twice as large in 1862. But who knows? In gratitude, thousands of Mexicans crossed the border after Pearl Harbor to join the U.S. Armed Forces. As recently as the Persian Gulf War, Mexicans flooded American consulates with phone calls, trying to join up and fight another war for America. Mexicans, you see, never forget who their friends are, and neither do Americans. That's why Cinco de Mayo is such a party -- A party that celebrates freedom and liberty. There are two ideals which Mexicans and Americans have fought shoulder to shoulder to protect, ever since the 5th of May, 1862. VIVA! el CINCO DE MAYO!!
