Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is the day before Ash Wednesday, and is also called "Shrove Tuesday" or "Pancake Day". Mardi Gras is the final day of Carnival, though the term is often used incorrectly to describe the days and weeks preceding Fat Tuesday. Carnival begins 12 days after Christmas, or Twelfth Night, on January 6 and ends on Mardi Gras, which always falls exactly 41 days before Easter. Perhaps the cities most famous for their Mardi Gras celebrations include New Orleans, Louisiana; Venice, Italy; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Many other places have important Mardi Gras celebrations as well. Carnival is an important celebration in most of Europe, except in the United Kingdom where pancakes are the tradition, and also in many parts of Latin America and the Caribbean. Celebrate & Be Happy! {{{Hugs}}}
OK... I'm gonna blast the time calendar everybody is accustomed to but new year came and went in a fashion similar to Beltaine in this household... Poor me... lost in the throws of orgasmic capitulation,,, Damn... I must be encapsulating on certain political genres but feel the freedom to circumvent certain genres but to promote freedom and liberty to those that see a true Uniter...
Good day one and all! I just got hold of a working computer here in Mississippi while Eugene and I "Camp Sit" here at Camp Sister Spirit in lovely Ovett and just wanted to let ya'll know we arrived safe and sound with our hounds. It's been an adventure from the start... introducing our four hounds to a pack of 7 that reside at the camp along with 6 cats, 4 goats and Circe, the camp mascot who is a 400 pound full grown sow (who was supposed to be a pot bellied pig and is not - LOL)! We had a freeze warning and been tending to the critters and fauna on the lovely 120 acres while our friends who run the place are tending to a family crisis in Arkansas. I do note bode well with the cold but am thankful to spend some time with my hunny in a beautiful environment even with the crisp chill and blue extremeties. We have been working hard to help fix up the place which still has some damage after Katrina and even had the opportunity to do some archaeological work on the grounds as well as my first official "dig" with Eugene's old professor and comrads at Camp Shelby in which we unearthed the first find at one particular site which we found flakes and what looks to be an old hearth site about 30 centimeters below the surface and many artifacts of what appears to be about 5,000 years old. Beginners luck I suppose and a wonderful experience I was happy to get dirty doing. We have been missing our dear friends on Fubar and may be home pending circumstances either on Tuesday or after Thanksgiving so I wanted to wish everyone a wonderful weekend, and joyous Thanksgiving just in case we are not able to check in until our return. Many thanks for the wonderful comments and my apologies if I missed anyones birthday or special events as it's been a lot of hard but enjoyable work and I feel wonderful being able to help our friends in need. Not much time to spend on a computer when you are physically exhausted and well grounded in nature's bounty. Oh well, the pack of hounds are going off and it's time to feed the goats. Will keep you in my thoughts and catch up again soon! Much love to all! {{{Hugs}}}

Rescuing The Rescuer

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Some people seem called to help others, often from very early on in their childhoods, responding to the needs of family members, strangers, or animals with a selflessness that is impressive. Often, these people appear to have very few needs of their own, and the focus of their lives is on rescuing, helping, and healing others. While there are a few people who are truly able to sustain this completely giving lifestyle, the vast majority has needs that lie beneath the surface, unmet and often unseen. In these cases, their motivation to help others may be an extension of a deep desire to heal a wounded part of themselves that is starving for the kind of love and attention they dole out to those around them on a daily basis. For any number of reasons, they are unable to give themselves the love they need and so they give it to others. This does not mean that they are not meant to be helping others, but it does mean that they would do well to turn some of that helping energy with! in. One problem with the rescuer model is that the individual can get stuck in the role, always living in crisis mode at the expense of inner peace and personal growth. Until the person resolves their own inner dramas, they play them out in their relationships with others, drawn to those who need them and often unable to acknowledge their own needs or get them met. In the worst-case scenario, they enable the other person’s dilemma by not knowing when to stop playing the rescuer and allow the person to figure it out on their own. However, if the rescuer finds the strength to turn within and face the needy aspects of their own psyche, he or she can become a model of empowerment and a true source of healing in the world. Some signs that you or someone you love may need to rescue the rescuer within are inner burnout from overgiving; underlying resentment; an inability to admit to having needs of one’s own; and an unwillingness to be vulnerable. Help comes when we allow ourselves to admit we need it, acknowledging our humanity and our wholeness by acknowledging our pain. The understanding we gain in the process will naturally inform and inspire our ability to help those in need to do the same.

Just a lil update...

My hubby has been home since Thursday afternoon and this weekend came with some news that has kept me away from FUBAR. We are packed and taking our hounds to Ovett, Mississippi to help a dear friends of ours out in her time of need. Andie is a dear friend who runs Camp Sister Spirit Folk School in Mississippi and some hard time had befallen her with regards to her mother's health. Mom is not doing well and is in Dumas, Arkansas in need of hospice and Eugene and I offered our assistance in keeping the camp up and running so she can tend to her family needs. Her biological mother and the co-founder of Camp Sister Spirit, Brenda Henson is still battling liver cancer. Her last chemo treatment did not make the cancer go away, but the cancer has not spread any further. Please remember her mother in your rituals and prayers. Magic Happens. Camp Sister Spirit Folk School is a non-profit charitable organization. The camp is equipped with a full food pantry, animal shelter and they also offer many other services for women, children and families in Mississippi. Some of the many services provided by the staff and supporters of CSSFS: Emergency Food Pantry Pet Food Pantry Advocacy/Referral Services GED/Educational Support Hurricane Shelter/People & Animals A Safe Space for Alternative Groups to Meet for Educational and Social Events 3000 Title Rainbow Library/Great for Researchers "Back To School" Project Annually -"Christmas/Solstice Assistance for Families" Spiritual/Wedding Services We will be tending to many rescued animals including goats, a pig, 7 dogs and several cats since the damage of hurricane Katrina and will also be tending to the grounds of 120 acres with several cabins and and environmental friendly atmosphere that hosts many diversified groups. This is an effort of love and convenience for we are available to do so and wish it were under different circumstances, but I hope all will understand and wish for the best. Safe journeys one and all. May your heart be filled with love and light. Goddess Bless!

Hey All;

Sorry for being scarce but my hunny has been home due to inclement weather and with Samhain being round the corner we have been busy with making preparations and arrangements in light of the past years events. I have been making preparations for Samhain (aka Halloween) an my circle of locals has helped me tremendously. I know my sisters and brothers have been with me in my trials and tribulations... my hope is that I am not evicted and karma bites swiftly... not at my hand, but by the hand that feeds... for only then will justice be served. In Love and Light, Lady V

I Believe...

Promise Yourself

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel like there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living person you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, and too strong for fear, and to happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Wishing all a Beautiful Day!
