What are you waiting for?
She walks alone through the darkness
Dreaming, wondering, wandering
Searching for something important
Yet foreign to her as yet
And always seemingly just out of reach
One in a while she finds a clue
A piece to the puzzle
One might be able to call it
Only to watch it slip from her grasp
And tumble through the sewer grate
She has no clear direction
Only the occasional street lamp
guides her to a new darkness
A place much like the last
Yet changed somehow
Lashing out wildly at the night
battling the demon deep within
raging against her own soul
she cries in desperation
only to slump quietly to the concrete below
Defeated, disheartened, lost to herself
exhausted she weeps, silently
gasping for fresh air now and then
until the blackness of blessed sleep
comes to claim her once again
Awakened by a whisper
"No rest for the weary" it says
she trudges onward into the abyss
forcing a belief to emerge........
There is light ahead somewhere.
