Vermont medical marijuana improvement bill introduced
The Vermont Legislature reconvened yesterday, and a coalition led by Sen. Dick Sears (D-Bennington) introduced S.7 -- a bill that will improve Vermont’s current medical marijuana law.
If you are a medical marijuana patient who does not currently qualify under the medical marijuana law or who finds the plant limits insufficient and you are interested in helping to expand the law, please contact Zane Hurst by e-mailing zane@mpp.org. Your legislators need to hear personal stories from patients who are facing arrest and imprisonment solely for treating their illnesses.
S.7 will add serious conditions that cause nausea, wasting, chronic pain, or seizures to Vermont's medical marijuana law. Currently, only patients suffering from cancer, HIV/AIDS, or multiple sclerosis qualify for the medical marijuana program. Additionally, this compassionate legislation will increase the amount of usable marijuana and the number of plants that a patient in the program may possess, because the current limits are not adequate for patients. It also reduces the registration fee from $100 to $50. Please take a moment to send a letter to your state senator urging him or her to support this compassionate bill.
Legislators truly do listen to their constituents’ opinions on important issues like this. With your help, many more sick and dying patients will get the peace of mind they need and deserve. Please take action now.
