3 held for school car burglaries

Three Fernandina Beach men were arrested Tuesday after they reportedly confessed to stealing credit cards from a vehicle parked at Fernandina Beach High School.
The men allegedly used the cards at local businesses, managing to rack up about $534 in purchases before the cards were reported stolen and purchases were then denied at the point of sale.
According to police, the suspects attempted to purchase additional merchandise worth $1,319, but the cards were denied.
Using surveillance video from the businesses, police were able to identify Jason Crowther, 21, and his brother Jamie Crowther, 19. Both men were questioned and confessed to helping a third suspect, 19-year-old Shane Ross, commit the theft and use the credit cards, according to a statement released by Fernandina Beach Police Chief Jim Hurley.
Hurley said when questioned by detectives Ross also admitted to entering several unlocked vehicles parked at the school.
"During the interviews with these three suspects, Fernandina Beach detectives learned they were also involved in several other auto burglaries in unincorporated Nassau County, and specific information regarding those cases was forwarded to the (Nassau County Sheriff's Office) for investigative follow-up," Hurley said in his statement.
Nassau County Sheriff Tommy Sea-graves said Wednesday mor-ning the three have not yet been charged with any burglaries outside the city limits.
Jason Crowther and Jamie Crowther are charged with fraudulent use of a credit card; Ross is charged with burglary of an automobile, trespass on school grounds and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Jamie Crowther has been released from jail on $10,002 bond. Jason Crowther was still an inmate at the Nassau County Jail Wednesday morning, held on $10,002 bond. Shane Ross is being held on $22,506 bond.
