The pit bull is the most abused and neglected animal on the planet.To many people who do not own these dogs or know anyone that does are so set in their ways about them. In fact , pit bull sare one of the most loving dogs you could own. Did you know that back in the 20's and 30's these dogs were highly sought after for "nanny dogs" ? Its true, their caring nature and protectiveness made them very good at this job. Also, did you know that the most highly decorated war dog ever was a pit bull named stubby? SGT. STUBBY to be exact, he saved his company and was awarded a medal for it. Yet so many people have a hatred for these dogs, because of all the negative media hype that is shown on the news. The A.P.B.T's desire to please their owners along with there powerful body and the fact that the dogmen of old bred aggressive dogs together to get more aggressive dogs, has led to the hatred of these dogs. Once looked up to, they are now being widely banned in alot of states across this country and needlessly killed by BSL(breed specific legislation). Alot of misconceptions about these dogs are , their jaws lock( not true) they bite harder than other dogs (also not true). they were bred to kill(not true). even though the dogmen of old wanted them as fighting dogs in the "pit". they did not want the dogs dead. even though that was the case some of the time. pit bulls bite more often than other dogs (again not true). studies have shown that they bite no harder than other large breed dogs and they are lower on the national bite list than dalmatians and retrievers . AQny dog who is not owned by a responsable owner is a potential bite risk. how many times have you been nipped by a small breed dog? i have been bitten by alot of small breed dogs. But no one wants to ban a poodle, or a datsun, why not ? because they are seen as less of a threat than a pit bull. yes pit bulls are very strong, yes people take advantage of the aggression that some of the breed has. If you could see what i see on a daily basis what people do to these dogs it would shock most of you. I am an advocate of the pit bull and i run a pit bull page. i see so much brutallity that is done to these dogs. they get beaten, lit on fire, shot, stabbed, dragged behind vehicles, starved, hung, hit with hammers and rocks, hog tied, basically anything you can think of, i have seen a dog that has been treated that way. it makes me sick to see what happens to them. If people would EDUCATE themselves about the pit bull and their nature, they would see that all the media hype is just that,  HYPE. The media wants ratings, they dont want good news, nobody wants good news, its all bad news everyday. dont believe me? turn on your tv for ten minutes on fox news or whatever you watch for news. all bad. My pit bull saved my elderly mothers life and gave me 5 days i would not have had if it wasnt for her, think the news cared? NO, cuz she didnt terrorize the neibors or maul a child, or another dog. NO RATINGS ! i know some of you who will read this HATE pit bulls. but after everything those dogs go through example, the VICK pit bulls! everyone wanted them killed, they were viscious killers who could never be adopted to a normal home.!!! hmmmmm, if you dont already know i urge you to google it and see how many of those beautiful dogs were adopted out. Even the HSUS,(humane society of the united states) said that they all would need to be killed. there was no way that fighting dogs could be rehabilitated. it wasnt the dogs that needed to be rehabilitated. it was the people. the dogs have done fine, they are so reziliant, they truly have UNCONDITIONAL  love for humans, no matter what people do to them. a little love brings their spirits up and makes them respond. they forgive so quickly what others have done to them and move on to better things. how many of us can say that ?  i cant !!!!  if you would like further info about pit bulls please visit my FB page @  facebook.com/pet.a.pit.bull
