People these days have the attitude of "I'll be nice to you if you're nice to me"(especially on fubar haha). But that's a pretty arrogant immature and entitled attitude. The truth is, in order to recieve kindness and respect, you have to show it. Because the only one you can control is yourself. If you live life with an "I'm gonna get them before they get me" attitude(which is essentially what "If you're nice to me,I'll be nice to you" translates into) you are judging someone by a first impression. What SEEMS like something rude or mean may not always be the case. So you have to get to know the person before you make that judgment.Otherwise, you'll spend your life with an emotional wall up and miss out on getting to know some really great people and creating life long friendships. Sure,there are some rude people out there. But, they are still people. And every person deserves respect and kindness. And if you follow the golden rule, which is "treat others the way you want to be treated", you just might change that person's heart. So, be the bigger person and show love,kindness and compassion to those who may not necessarily deserve it. Because you don't know the kind of life they may have had. They may have gone through things in their lives which caused them to be bitter,hostile and guarded. And,like I said. you have the power to potentially change that person's heart and their lives. There's no greater reward than knowing you made a difference in someones life. God bless:-)
