I attended the Miss Coloma Pageant this weekend not due to having a daughter in the running for Miss Coloma. Not because I was on the committee to put the pageant together. Because My second oldest daughter produced, directed and MC’D the program along with a local radio personality. They both did a great job. One thing I learned at this pageant along with other pageants held across the country is beauty is not always the main reason that one wins the contest. Let me take that a step further and give you my reason for saying being beautiful doesn’t always make a winner in events like these. This year’s choice for Miss Coloma was beautiful; she was a fabulous choice for the crown even though she referred to GOD every chance she spoke. That in itself turns me off…no not GOD referrals, but the abundance of referrals to GOD. Let’s be honest can we? GOD doesn’t give Athletes extra speed when running; GOD doesn’t give Athletes the ability to hit Homeruns, nor to throw a Touchdown, Not even to catch a Touchdown pass. You can not convince me of this point and do not even try. I would think there are more important things on the agenda of GOD. Now understandably Madison this years Miss Coloma is a person who is destined to become a member of the cloth. She wants to become a Minister and have her own church and she mentioned this which is great. So my mentioning of her loosely using the GOD referrals is was not directed at her alone. It’s the athletes and those who even other word is about the church and referrals to that life. I understand that is what keeps hopes and faith in many, and in times like these we all need faith. Wow I got off the tangent of what this piece was about today, yes it was about Miss Coloma and what happened at the pageant but really was not supposed to off road to faith and such or even about the contestants because they all we gorgeous young ladies. My story is about the celebrities in attendance. Along with Mayors, Press both from Local stations and TV was a surprisingly unexpected dignitary. One the girls who participated could look up to. She came in Crown, and dress…no banner. She was our own……our own representative to the state title for Mrs. Michigan. However when the dignitaries were announced and the lights went to her direction. You have to realize how excited I was to see the state recipient for Michigan at the Miss Coloma contest. I almost was giddy to see who was representing our state. When she did rise and Wild Bill the Cat Country 99 DJ made his way over to her I was astonished. The crowd of more then 800 in attendance also was astonished and I know this because it was like all the cheering and applauds seem to diminish. She was given the MIC and spoke not like a queen, She looked unlike a queen, she did not even remotely resemble a queen…perhaps queen of the Hog Farm…which then thoughts of…humility, thoughts of this must be a joke…this woman could not have won a one woman contest. Elsie the Cow had a better chance of being Mrs. Michigan in my book…this woman almost looked like a Man, she was closer to 300 pounds had straggly dish water blond hair which was badly curled. Her dress looked like she made it herself…the crown looked like a store purchased model one could find in any target store which carried Princess Barbie crowns for children who wanted to imitate a princess. I am not making any of this up…this woman was closer to Mrs. Hideous then Mrs. Hog Farmer. Let alone Mrs. Michigan…Unless I only partially heard her title, I believed Jackie announced her as Mrs. Michigan. Once I find her web site I will post it in an email…but right now I am looking for the Medusa cure…because everyone she looked at turned to stone… I think this woman was a True Nut-Case and made her choice to appear at a local Pageant to display it…
