We know your nights are lonely and long,
And we wish you were home the states where you belong.
Away to foreign seas and soils,
Assigned to keep PEACE with your daily toils.
All you do is deeply appreciated by many in the land of the free,
We know your job appears thankless, that we all agree.
The fear from an unknown is always a thing of worry,
And at times your assignments make no sense and become blurry.
Freedom and PEACE are cherished so much in this land,
Wouldn’t it be great if everyone could walk hand in hand?
We pray for you safety, health and mental strength,
We want you home on our freedom rich soil, away from the skirmishes of war and its stench.
The branch of the armed forces really makes not a difference at all - because
the PEACE you are maintaining while serving your call,
Is the same PEACE we all want - so be proud and stand tall.
Coming home to a warm welcome when your tour is complete,
Is often neglected by many because their busy schedules you compete.
What should be a heart-warming welcome on your return to the states,
Often becomes another’s pulpit to spit out their hate.
So PEACEKEEPERS remember you are needed by all of this land,
Return home safely, to you, I extend my hand.
Many thanks to as you carry out your duties and thanks also to your loved ones who share you unselfishly but with lonely hearts,
You are needed, wanted, loved, cared for, and prayed for by many and this simple THANK YOU is how we shall start.
