A soldier on a lonely hill looks at the destruction all around.
No matter what happens here in Iraq, he is honor bound.
He feels American pride always in his heart
And that he must help this country get a new start.
Freedom sometimes is a commodity that runs real low,
He and others must make this not so.
This fear that dwells in his heart,
He must somehow, make depart.
He, with pride for his country, will not give in.
The people in Iraq must feel freedom, just like him.
For all people, have that right
And he with his pride, will stay and fight.
The fear of death will just have to go away.
His fight for freedom stays with him everyday.
This pride for the U.S. dwells in his heart.
These feelings of pride and love for his country, this soldier tries to impart.
He misses his family more than he can say
But in his heart, he knows he must stay.
If giving up his life is what has to be
For freedom, he will give it up freely.
To all our military men and women, even though thank you is not enough, thank you is all we have. Thank you for OUR freedom.
