A foundation built so strong, laid with all the right plans. Love and trust the columns while hope rose high to span the ceiling. Each day it seemed its wonders and strength continued to grow. But soon to be only continuously hacked and chipped away at by your own hands and pick. All the time warned by its shaking but to be ignored by your ignorance. Realization of the damage your created comes to late as the final supports give way, pillars one by one fall, trust, promises, hopes all smash to floor as you say over and over again, “ why, why did you have to be so blind”. In ruins your world lays scattered all around photographs that once brought smiles now only bring tears flutter in a cold winter wind. A life, a future, a dream lay in pieces all around your feet. Music once full of joy now to be replaced by the sadden song. The coming wind stirs up the dust almost forming the figure of the one you have failed with eyes of sadness, her eyes burning the guilt into you. Surveying the damage you cry, collapsing down to the ground screaming cries of anguish into the skies fading light, teardrops staining the rubble. Slowly you walk out of the wreckage as the thunder rumbles and the dark clouds roll in and the rain comes down. Lightning flashes across your raging face while your heart breaks with each bolt seeming to strike it. In front of you the dust stirs up another figure one of you shaking its head, while its eyes of disappointment pierce your soul as it feels the separation of what you use to be. Into the darkness you walk in search of new shelter and new life. Clutched in your hand one photograph, one you could not bear to leave behind all the while staring at it and saying, “Never, never again will I be so blind.” With one last turn you look upon the scene of destruction, a life you worked so hard to finally get, a future you had waited for so long to have, a dream is all it has become.
