Of Two Minds
Contradictions forced
into a single point of view.
Tolerances tested to no end.
Shades of grey turn black and white,
my conscience splits in two.
As I find out just how far I can bend.
Middle ground is hard to find
inside of one's own mind.
Negotiations don't last very long.
When a single thought is all it takes
to break a compromise,
it's hard to say which side is right or wrong.
And so, for now the battle
rages on no end in sight.
A mind divided standing nonetheless.
Though hope for reconciliation
lasts to end this fight.
I doubt it will be met with much success

Remain intact
despite the fact
that your pulse is starting to race.
Panic grips like a vice
while sweat, cold as ice,
comes streaming down your face.
Hyperventilating,
your heart palpitating.
Fear has you paralyzed.
Painfully aware
that your worst nightmare
is being realized
Coming undone,
but unable to run.
Your mind falls into disarray.
Beginning to shake,
you wish you could make
it all just go away.

Watered down
Open your eyes
and look around
And think
for yourself, for a change
