Here's the beef!
Every year I get picked on for wearing black instead of green for St. Patrick's Day. I do it in mourning for the fact that to gain the elevation to sainthood, Patrick mass slaughtered the Irish who refused to convert to xtianity. These were the "snakes" that he drove into the sea (Literally, he drove women and children who wouldn't convert into the sea to their deaths.)
However, these days I see it as more of a celebration of Irish heritage than a celebration of a mass murderer.
Should I
Dress in green in hounour of Mother Ireland
or
Stay in the black of mourning |
