Good Morning. It’s pesky BEE time in Michigan. Well hell, perhaps all over I guess, however it seems like a Michigan only problem this time of year. I am not sure why…I am not sure how they determine they need to go out with a flare. I do not mean a road flare either! Although, some do believe burning them out is the answer. Not so in these next two cases. Please do not try this at home! Some Americans continue to prefer to "do it themselves" to get rid of pests on their property, with tragic results. In June, Mike Harstad of Jamestown, Calif., attempting to eliminate a wasps' nest with a can of Pledge and a cigarette lighter, ultimately burned down his mobile home and contents and destroyed an outbuilding, a truck, a boat and a trailer. In August, a Whitehall, Pa., man, William Sekol, 82, attempting to destroy a yellow jackets' nest beneath a storm sewer grate in his front yard, put a dried tree over the grate, doused it with gasoline, and lit it (supposedly to suffocate the yellow jackets underneath). However, some gasoline ran into the sewer, where its fumes combusted. In the resulting explosion, Sekol's mustache and eyebrows were singed. [Allentown Morning Call, 8-7-07] Does it seem we tend to think BEES need a fire to take them out? Bonnie uses the left over Hummingbird feed in a two liter pop bottle to do the trick. I bet there were 200 bee’s in that thing when she emptied it out. I hate bees!
Well other then a Roman Catholic Bishop in the Netherlands trying to un-fuse worldly tensions by suggesting we refer to GOD as Allah…fat chance! That is all I have today. I am wondering how long that Bishop will keep his title…
