I am not making this up. It's stuff like this that really makes me happy that I write about how "science is stranger than fiction."
In Germany, scientists studied what kinds of music could help put sharks "in the mood." Gee, and you thought scientists were running out of areas of study. The sharks at the ten Sea Life centers contain mostly younger shark, and they haven't been exposed to adult role models when it comes to courting and reproducing (I would think that that was a GOOD thing).
So for two hours every day, each of the ten facilities played all kinds of music. Visitors and staff were then asked to observe the behavior of the sharks during this time, and to document their findings. All-in-all, over 1000 songs were played.
Here are the top five songs that the scientists noted helped sharks get horny:
#5 Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry."
#4 Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body."
#3 James Last's "Traumschiff." (Which is the German version of the "Love Boat" theme).
#2 Joe Cocker's "You Can Leave Your Hat On."
And finally...the top sex-inducing song for sharks is...
#1 Salt 'N Pepa's "Push It." Imagine that music tends to create horniness in sharks. To think I just thought a good tasting seal did that. Oh well back to the drawing board. Where does the line form to get a research job? I am just amazed on what different parts of the world pay their engineers and scientists' to do research for these types of studies. My only question is this: WHY? Why on earth would they even do this… Here’s an idea the zoo’s and aquariums are running out of Sharks in captivity…go net another one… or two or two hundred. I mean Shark week just finished on the discovery channel and of every show I seen there were no shortage of sharks. Most would be easy pickens. I am just laughing at the 3rd song in the top five…the german version of the Love Boat…oh my…yeah that gives me the urge…that has to be a writer’s added bit of humor…oh well we might never know because I for one am not checking the validity of this story what so ever.
On the higher side of the mountain of morning mayhem here is one that will really get your coffee perked. A man is suing a florist over revealing an affair he was having.
