My Tagged Profile denotes my religion as an athiest - thats a cop out because it is easier to say that than to really try an explain my perceptions, thoughts, ponderings and views on the subject of religion and all that the word is associated with. Is there a God, for lack of better word, and why ask me - I'm just as ignorant on the answer as any one of the billions on this planet. Sometimes a part of me also thinks - and so what if there is - does he live my life for me? Hell no! According to the bible and the Priests, Rabbi's, Pastors and what ever other name a religious man may have - God gave us free will so that we could come to Him of our own Belief in his love for us.

 I was raised as a Catholic - don't ask me what particular denomination of catholic, it was so long ago and i no longer care. I was an altar boy for a few years, went to a catholic school, did the religion classes - holy communion and holy confirmation and all that stuff. In my hitch - hiking years I explored a few other avenues of faith, all taught me something - I was with Church of God for a while, the christian outreach, some mob on surfer's paradise I no longer even recall the name of. When i was living in a commune or my six week stay on a nudist beach I got into the theory of mother earth - not so much that she is an entity, though who am i to say conclusively that she isn't, but more in a concept idea of viewing the Earth as a massive human - the minerals and irons and tins and copper and oils and coal all the very veins of the earth, much like we have veins in our bodies, and like the earth our bodies are significantly water; just to give some form of analogy

I think all religions fundamentally hold one thing in common ( and remember I'm a pleb on this - I have no idea how many religions even exist, lol). Ignore the questions of an afterlife and of a kingdom of heaven for the moment, and consider this - all religions are about the betterment of self and therefore exponentially, the betterment of society - how we treat our fellow man, morals, values, respect, trust, honesty, courtesy; a code of ethics that would make life harmonious for all. Not in this life time let me tell you, but hey, that's just my opinion. I'm a cynic too if you hadn't realised, lol.

 What do I personally believe? Well, that's a damn good question! I believe in a God, Higher Awareness, Cosmic Energy, Universal Power, Random Chaos - whatever you want to call it - I generally stick to god because that's an immediate term of reference for someone to understand the gist of what I'm saying. I believe we should strive to save this planet and stop raping her of all that is needed to make her what she is supposed to be, a rich, life giving planet which as far as we still know - is the only one capable of supporting human life without bio-domes. I believe WE as a Human Race need to stand up and try for all our worth to recognise that first and foremost, we are all People of the Planet Earth before we sub-divide ourself into peoples of independant nations, and at the end of the day, we ALL bleed the colour red. We need to evolve and let go of bigotry, racism, persecution of colour, WAR - we need to be more than just the greatest predator on the planet, we need to be a predator that has the knowledge to preserve and grow to become better than we are now. I believe in being open minded enough to accept views of others that might seem eccentric to the "normal" (roflmao) and not discount an idea because it sounds almost mythical or fairy-tale like. Hey people - if the bible and religion can accept a stance on winged beings called angels, and their counterparts, the demons, minions of the devil, why the heck should i discount the theory of fairies or elves, or halflings when learned men can accept angels and demons because it says so in a book. Fair suck of the sav I say. The last thing i do want to say is that if I call my God by any name, then the name of my God is Karma.
