NY/Billy Joel Trip

Random thoughts on my NY/Billy Joel Trip -  putting together a mosh of thoughts, ups, and downs...

Best way to NY (From DC) - I'm sold on Amtrak - at least if you have enough advance notice to get a decent fare. My tickets were $49.00 one way, it takes less time than driving, and drops you in the heart of NY.

Best Lunch after arriving in NY - NY Pizza Suprema - just steps from Penn Station, and one of the most highly rated (Yelp and critically) NY Style Pizza Places in NY.

Oddest sign - "Keep door closed at all times" - including a chain going through the handle, and wrapped around a ground to ceiling pole. When they say "Keep Closed", they mean it...

Odd sight 1: Times Square Entertainers dressed as the Statue of Liberty - taking a break and playing on their cell phones.

Odd sight 2: New "Entertianers" at Times Square (at least the first time I've seen them) - a couple of young ladies, using what they got - in just body paint and a thong. They body painted patriotic items and "I Love NY" all over themselves - and yes, they had some people coming up to them.

Best Line said to me: By a bartender at Madison Square Garden as I got a beer before the show - he saw my Seahawk hat (yes, I was repping the 12s) - and said "I'm sorry. I can't serve you here. The NFC Bar is on the other side of the Garden".

Worst Service - Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine for dinner. Maybe I caught them on an off night, or maybe they profiled me as "single diner, low tip, no effort will be given" - The food was great, but the service was a clusterf*ck from start to finish.

Best moment of the show: Tony Bennett joining Billy Joel for "New York State of Mind", followed by Billy leading all of MSG in a round of Happy Birthday for Tony (who turns 90 on August 3).

Concert Grump: It seems whenever I go to a show, I end up near the person that is only there because they got dragged along, and has no interest in being there other than to score brownie points. In this case, it was the guy behind me.

Smartest Move: MSG offering lids for their draft beers. It came in handy as during the show, someone kicked my beer over (and down a step as I was on the aisle). But the cover saved it and not a drop spilled.

Music Bonding Friend: The Concert Grump's Girlfriend - when she realized how into the show I was, she was constantly commenting with me between songs, touching/smacking me during good moments - and when her grump went on a beer/potty run, she came next to me, and made sure my arm stayed around her waist till she saw him walking up the portal again. lol.

Overall - a fantastic trip, and an awesome show. Billy can still sing all the songs and sounds great, even if he can't move like he used to. I would definitely make the trip to see him at MSG again!

Break Time.. Kinda

To those that read this... I'm probably gonna be fairly quiet on Fubar for a bit.. just losing the desire (and time constraints) to continually rate, comment, etc.. also breaking from the occasional drama that occurs.. It doesn't mean thoughts aren't appreciated, or that I won't be checking in.. just that I may not respond to everything.. just too much going on.. and I know my level probably isn't gonna get past where it is... so there's no use point collecting.. Just know that y'all are appreciated and in mind, even if I don't express it

Back from Vacation

Well, the title says it all. I spent most of last week puterless and offline while visiting a friend in the Seattle area... All I can say is I really like that area, great to visit for sure. If I had the freedom to move, it would be near the top of my list, along with New Orleans, but thats a blog for some other time As for Seattle, I did quite a bit of the touristy stuff, but still had fun. I was able to catch a Seahawks game @ Qwest, which was fantastic. The fact they won the game was even better! It was great to be part of the loudest crowd in the NFL for a game. I was also about 5 miles from an actively erupting Volcano - Mount St. Helens. From the viewpoint we had, we could actually see the smoke (from the heat of the lava/magma inside the volcano. It was incredible to be that close. Of course, I did a lot of the touristy stuff as well (Harbor cruises, Space needle, etc), but won't bore ya with details here.. those will wait till I post the pictures I have.. LOL. But I'm back now.. so maybe I'll get caught up here eventually (yeah, right.. lol) And remember.. if you missed me.. you need to practice your aim so you don't miss again.. LOL

What a day

Whoever thought that going to the oral surgeon and having a tooth pulled under local anesthesia could be considered a good part of the day... well, that was my day today.. of course, the doctor was a little delayed, but he did get the job done.. I made my follow up appointment, and started driving home.. but kept getting hotter and hotter, even with the windows down.. I realized I wasn't gonna make it all the way, so I started to pull over to the shoulder so I could close my eyes for a moment (or however long was needed...) Next thing I knew.. I hear a few "ka-thunks" and open my eyes.. to see myself much further off the shoulder than I'd planned on being.. must have passed out for a moment, but still somehow finished hitting the brakes. I got out of the car, and saw an upside down stoplight warning sign leaning against my car.. needless to say.. "uh oh" and "Oh F*ck* went through my mind... Turns out, damage to the car is minimal.. passenger side is a bit messed up, dented and scraped, but thats it.. the front of the car and drivers side are fine.. And to answer the possilby obvious question in a wise guy way...would I be here blogging if I weren't ok? lol.

Helpful Household Tips

A few helpful household tips you probably never have needed, but I've learned. 1) Christmas Ornaments and Washing Machines full of clothes don't mix. 2) A dryer with a fabric softener sheet is a good way to get little shards of glass (from an ornament maybe) out of clothes. 3) Wash and Wear clothes still need to be dried. 4) Hanging a Wash and Wear shirt while sitting in front of a fan doesn't work well. 5) Blowing on powdered dishwasher detergent to spread it around (and out of the holder so it can snap shut...) doesn't work well. 6) Powdered detergent burns the eyes when it gets into them.. Hope these help, and hope that I have no more household misadventures.

A crush???

Wow.. first thing I gotta say is thank ya, whoever you are.. now I gotta decide.. do I try and figure out who you are? or do I assume you are the person who viewed me just before the crush message came through? lol... yes, I do know who that was ;) Of course, I could react like myself, and ask if you need to be tested for substance abuse for crushin' on me.. LOL...but if you need to be tested... and want some substances... body shots on me!! lol
Well, what can I say today... almost at a level 10 finally. All I gotta do is the CT Salute Pic. Once I do it, it'll be the first time I've ever been considered a 10 by anything.. had what I thought was a good mumm idea yesterday, but didn't get near as many views as I thought it might. Either it sucked, or the timing was way off. Most exciting sport moment where a team scores.. the inside the park home run, or the Kickoff/punt return for a TD. Almost time for my old mans soccer league tonight. At least it keeps the spare tire at donut size instead of being full size. But as long as the game is fun, thats the important thing. Ohh.. that SexyTruck comment/spam that went around... somehow I got 6 back which means "I'm a sexy babe" or something like that... to me it means.. y'all ladies that sent it to me... really need to lay off the beer... LMAO

Random Thoughts

Not a lot of random thoughts today.. supposed to get up to about 95 today here.. sounds like a day at the in laws pool and eating leftover crabs. I know, such a hard life.. LOL. Nice Nascar Race last night.. helluva finish. Not a Kyle Fan, but would have been cool to see him win two races on the same track in the same day. I wish I had something profound to say.. but my brain cell is slackin' on that count.. maybe this can be nominated for "most boring blogger" lol
