Raven

Raven

Often mistaken with crows, ravens are much larger and their croak is more raucous. Ravens are intelligent masters of mimicking the calls of other animals and have also been known to mimic some human words. They are good at finding food and communicating with other ravens where food is located.

The raven is symbolic of mind, thought and wisdom – Intelligent

Ravens are humanitarians in Native American symbolic legends too. In fact, the raven was a hero to many tribes.

Other Native North American tribes saw the raven as the bringer of light. In fact, southwestern tribes (Hopi, Navajo, Zuni) felt the raven was flew out from the dark womb of the cosmos, and with it brought the light of the sun (dawning of understanding)….a bird of creation.

Ravens are also known as the "keeper of secrets" in several native tribes, and are the teachers of mysticism.

Raven flies to us with heightened awareness and greater understanding of our consciousness. It is with this new perception that we begin seeing into the hearts of others and experience their feelings. Raven asks us to experience the transformation it brings within our multidimensional self, and be reunited with the mysteries of the universe so we can expel our inner demons.

If a Raven shows up…magick is in the air and something special is about to happen. Pay attention to your dreams and visions and especially colorful and powerful ones. For these are indications of prophecy.
You are gradually shape-shifting to a more confident, powerful spirituality.

Call upon a Raven to clarify your intentions about a task, a relationship or your spiritual path.
Also, If you have had an especially painful childhood and want to reclaim the lost innocence and joy, the raven is there to guide you from the pain and rejoice in the joys again.
If you have lost touch with Magick and want to recapture the sense of awe and wonder, as well as manifesting your desires.
They are there to call if you are in need of physical as well as emotional healing.
They are there to help to send long distance healing energies to those in need.

The Raven as your Spirit Animal – you prefer solitude to the company of others. As you mature, your spiritual awareness expands.
You are a spiritual leader; when you are present, everyone around you can feel it.
You must be vigilant to any personal shadows that interfere with your true mission and try to steer you off your path.
You communication easily with animals and you carry yourself with a reserved air of confidence and strength. You remain alert to all things occurring around you.
You always know what to you, if needed quick decisions.

You are a natural shape-shifter, able to disguise yourself with sublimity, on any occasion that calls for “invisibility” of your true self to other.

“But the raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered;
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before;
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said, "Nevermore."

Time Does Not Bring Relief

Time does not bring relief; you all have lied

 Who told me time would ease me of my pain!

 I miss him in the weeping of the rain; I want him at the shrinking of the tide;

 The old snows melt from every mountain-side

 And last year's leaves are smoke in every lane;

 But last year's bitter loving must remain

 Heaped on my heart, and my old thoughts abide.

 There are a hundred places where I fear

 To go - so with his memory they brim.

 And entering with relief some quiet place

 Where never fell his foot or shone his face

 I say, 'There is no memory of him here!'

 And so stand stricken, so remembering him.

My best friend, My heart, My soul

SILENT NIGHT

~PAGAN VERSION~

Silent night, Solstice Night
All is calm, all is bright
Nature slumbers in forest and glen
Till in Springtime She wakens again
Sleeping spirits grow strong!
Sleeping spirits grow strong!

Silent night, Solstice night
Silver moon shining bright
Snowfall blankets the slumbering Earth
Yule fires welcome the Sun's rebirth
Hark, the Light is reborn!
Hark, the Light is reborn!

Silent night, Solstice night
Quiet rest till the Light
Turning ever the rolling Wheel
Brings the Winter to comfort and heal
Rest your spirit in peace!
Rest your spirit in peace!

My friend

There are gifts of many treasures
For both the young and old,
From the tiniest little trinkets
To great boxes filled with gold.

But, put them all together
And they could not stand in lieu,
Of the greatest gift of all
The gift of knowing you.

When your times are filled with troubles
Sadness, grief, or even doubt,
When all those things you planned on
Just aren't turning out.

Just turn and look behind you
From the place at which you stand,
And look for me through the shadows
And reach out for my hand.

I will lift from you your burden
And cry for you your tears,
Bear the pain of all your sorrows
Though it may be for a thousand years.

For in the end I would be happy
To have helped you start anew,
It's a small price to pay
For the gift of knowing you

The Road Not Taken

My favorite poem, by Robert Frost...  an assertion of individualism.

           The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My favorites....

I love words, and I love to read.  Some words are bunched together to form a memorable quote... one that sticks in your head and just seems to 'fit' any situation.  The following are some of my favorites...

"Words are the basis for thought... without words there would be no thought."

Think about it...

"You gotta LIVE LIVE LIVE!  Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!"

Are you going to let this life pass you by without tasting the feast?  It's right there in front of you... reach out, take a bite!

"Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited while imagination embraces the entire world."

Albert Einstein... 'nuff said.
