There were no changes in the top three spots of the TSN. William Moore Jersey .ca NFL Power Rankings this week, with the unbeaten Houston Texans and Atlanta Falcons sitting ahead of the third-ranked San Francisco 49ers. A blowout win against Oakland lifted the Denver Broncos from 11 to seven, while a convincing Monday night road win helped the Chicago Bears climb from 13 to nine. St. Louis, with running back Steven Jackson healthy and coming off a win over Seattle, moved from 27 up to 19. The New York Giants fell from seven to 13, largely because of the health of wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who is a game-breaker when hes in the lineup. Continued inconsistency leaves the 1-3 Detroit Lions at 20, down from 14, and the injury-riddled New York Jets have fallen all the way down to 31 after losing cornerback Darrelle Revis and wide receiver Santonio Holmes for the season in successive weeks. After an uninspired effort in Game One, the New Jersey Devils were better in the second game of the series, outshooting the Devils 30-21 in regulation, but when the game reached overtime, the Kings took control. The TSN Barclays Power Rankings are back after a two-week hiatus, and the early season trends continue in the top flight. Chelsea remain a step above the rest, growing in confidence and quality every time out. The two Manchester sides have had weakness exposed, but still remain unconvincingly the next best teams in the table. After the top three, the league is as unpredictable as ever.  Match-day 9 sets up to be a big weekend for multiple sides. Chelsea can distance themselves further from Manchester United as the two top teams in the table feature at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. There is no clear favourite in this weekends Merseyside derby, with both Everton and Liverpool set to miss key players. And Arsenal looks to turn things around against QPR, as the club faces more questions about their ability to compete with the best in the Premier League. Without further ado, here are your latest TSN Premier League Power Rankings: 1) Chelsea (7W-1D -0L, last week: 1) – Chelsea have yet to be dethroned atop the TSN Power Rankings. No team is on finer form in the Premier League. Nevermind their Champions League loss at Shakhtar Donetsk midweek, the consistency and balance in the Chelsea side is unmatched in the BPL. Roberto Di Matteos 4-2-3-1 formation is proving to be the most effective alignment for the modern game. Juan Mata has been a revelation thus far (six goals and seven assists in his last six competitive matches), playing alongside the creative and energetic forces of Oscar and Eden Hazard. The trio may lack experience in terms of years, but give away nothing in terms of quality, vision and awareness.  The superior movement of all three on and off the ball has broken down Premier League sides with relative ease. Just as important as the attacking trio has been the wing play of Branislav Ivanovic and Ashley Cole. The ability to get into deep positions and force the issue in attack has made up for any defensive deficiencies. A four-point cushion atop the table is well deserved. 2) Manchester City (5-3-0, last week: 2) – Champions find ways to earn points when not at their best. Thats the story of City early this season; theyve earned 11 points coming back from losing positions. Defensive struggles, an inconsistent tactical approach and multiple injuries have made for some frustration at the Etihad. Man Citys Champions League campaign may be a mess, but the BPL season is certainly not. A 10-man City improbably fought back for a 2-1 win at the Hawthorns, and the Blue side of Manchester has yet to lose a Premier League match. Roberto Mancini needs to figure out how to best align his back-line. Captain Vincent Kompany has been left inexplicably exposed at times. A traditional back four worked to perfection last season. The experimental back five, which at times turns into a back three has caused more problems than benefit. And Mancini must diffuse the ticking time bomb, Mario Balotelli. The Italian is more of a headache than anything as a bit player for the club and hasnt scored this season. 3) Manchester United (6-0-2, last week: 5) – United responded to a 3-2 home loss to Spurs by scoring a combined seven goals in their last two matches. The riches in attack at Sir Alex Fergusons disposal are second to none. Its early goals conceded, and cheap ones at that, are the main concern at Old Trafford. United have fallen behind in eight matches this season, and have come back to win six of those. This is a trend that cannot continue; the defending is simply not good enough. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are closing in on returns from injury. The size and physicality of both players is desperately needed in a side lacking size and focus. Defending will be priority for this Sundays match-up against league leaders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. 4) Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-2, last week: 6) – Spurs will be disappointed losing to Chelsea 4-2 last week at White Hart Lane after holding a 2-1 second half lead. Too many defensive errors and an inability to control the midfield cost the home side. That being said, Spurs were without key players Gareth Bale and Moussa Dembele. Its clear squad depth isnt a luxury at Andre Villas-Boas disposal. AVB will have to wait until January to address requisite quality defensive depth. Its also time for AVB to give striker Emmanuel Adebayor a run in the side. Jermain Defoe has been on good form, but Adebayor adds a different dimension to the Spurs attack: size and his nose for goal are especially needed in the extended absence of Bale. 5) Everton (4-3-1, last week: 3) – David Moyes side has hit a bump in the road, with draws in their last two matches against competition of lesser quality (Wigan/QPR). Its no coincidence these setbacks came without midfielder Marouane Felliani (knee) in the line-up.  Everton hopes Felliani can return for this weekends Merseyside derby.  The return of Felliani is even more important with Steven Pineaar suspended for the match after being sent off (two cautions) against QPR. No Felliani and no Pineaar means no service for Evertons talented strikers. 6) Arsenal (3-3-2, last week: 4) – Its been a bad week at Arsenal. A Champions League home loss to Schalke on the heels of a 1-0 loss at Norwich City has renewed questions about Arsene Wengers future at the club. Arsenals 12 points from eight matches is their fourth worst start to a Premier League campaign. Injuries to wingbacks Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs havent helped, with defensive depth always been an issue. Goals have dried up for the time being, with further injuries to Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain not helping matters. The Gunners are anxiously anticipating the return of Jack Wilshere as a contributer.  Wilshere is closing in on a return to full fitness and will be counted on to provide Santi Cazorla support in the middle of the park. 7) West Bromwich Albion (4-2-2, last week: 7) – WBA almost pulled off another stunner, before conceding late in a 2-1 heartbreaking loss to 10-man City. Full marks to the home side for going for the win and not sitting back. Romelu Lukaku came close to beating Joe Hart twice in time added on. Sitting on 14 points, this is still West Broms best start in Premier League history. WBAs physicality and well-organized approach will keep them competitive throughout the season. But outside of Peter Odemwingie, the side lacks a true playmaker on the ball. Its this little bit of lack of quality holding WBA back from being considered a true contender for a spot in Europe next season. At the very least, WBA continues to impress and excite the casual observer. 8) West Ham United (4-2-2, last week: 12) – The Premier League newcomers have been productive as any with their no-nonsense approach. It hasnt been pretty, but the results are what matter. Full credit to Sam Allardyce for sticking to his guns and getting the most out of his players. The Hammers current form (four wins from eight matches) probably isnt sustainable. But as long as they follow the lead of inspirational captain Kevin Nolan (four goals, two assists), the team will remain committed and a nuisance week to week. 9) Fulham (4-1-3, last week: 11) – Much like West Ham, its hard to knock the Cottagers.  Four early season wins from a team who lost their two top players from a season ago in the transfer market speaks volumes. Martin Jol continues to work wonders, finding useful players andd developing proper roles to suit the players strengths. Todd McClure Jersey. Dimiatr Berbatov and Mladen Petric are clear threats in front of goal, and Hugo Rodallega and Bryan Ruiz are productive assets in attack. Away form haunted Fulham last season, and will determine whether they can make a true push for a place in Europe this campaign.   10) Newcastle United (2-4-2, last week: 9) – Easily the most difficult team to figure out in the Premier League. Defensive injuries have hurt (12 goals against), but the nine goals for in eight matches is a head scratcher. Much more is expected from Papiss Cisse, as Demba Ba remains the only consistent goal scorer in the partnership. The team plays wonderful soccer at times but has yet to hit the superior stride shown last season. The weight of expectations, and clear quality in the squad makes its current place in the table (11th) unacceptable at this stage.  A swift rise up the table wouldnt surprise. 11) Liverpool (2-3-3, last week: 13) – Injury and an overall lack of depth has forced Brendan Rodgers to mix and match to fill out a competitive side. That being said, the team seems to be growing in confidence every week despite the roster deficiencies. In their last two wins, 1-0 victories over Reading and Anzhi Makhachkala in Europa League, Rodgers found goal scoring winners from Raheem Sterling and Stewart Downing – neither player scored for Liverpool last season. Lacking a true marksman will continue to be a challenge. But young players like Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey are growing into their roles and have bright futures.  Sundays derby, with Pepe Reinas status (hamstring) up in the air, will show what this Liverpool team is made. A tough schedule is ahead. 12) Swansea City (3-2-3, last week: 14) – The up and down season for the Swans has made for an interesting start for Michael Laudrup as manager. The team has failed to recover since losing promising left-back Neil Taylor to injury. Swansea did get back in the win column last time out with a 2-1 home win over Wigan. Pablo Hernandez opened his Swansea account and Michu notched his sixth goal of the early season. We should mention Jonathan de Guzman played his part as well, assisting on both goals in the victory. Three points was essential with a difficult road ahead. Man City and Chelsea are the next two matches on the schedule. 13) Sunderland (1-5-1, last week: 8) – Sunderland struggled to a derby draw with Newcastle despite being up a man for upwards of 75 minutes. Its been the story of their season – a team ultimately competitive but fail to separate themselves in any matches. Steven Fletcher is the only player having scored for the Black Cats in Premier League play. In fact, Sunderland only has 12 shots on goal all season. More production is needed from the likes of Sebastian Larsson, James Maclean and Stephane Sessegnon. Draws are fine, but home wins are needed to stay in the top half of the table. 14) Stoke City (1-5-2, last week: 10) – The Stoke City defensive fortress was thoroughly broken down by Manchester United at Old Trafford, conceding four goals after only conceding five times in seven matches. Theres no shame in being undone at United. And the good news for Stoke is they showed ability to possess the ball and create chances. The five-man midfield, although lacking flair, are well organized and can be effective in influencing a match with their physical presence. Transfer rumours have swirled around the future of captain Ryan Shawcross, who continues to impress early this campaign. 15) Wigan Athletic (1-2-5, last week: 16) – The Latics have been unable to carry over the form that saw them survive the relegation drop at the end of last season. In fairness, Wigan hasnt been all that bad this season. But they havent been that good either, and certainly havent done enough to get results; they have the identical record they had at the same point last season. The team has missed Paraguay defender Antolin Alcaraz (groin), but even he isnt a player that can be labeled a difference maker. Therein is the issue: Wigan has to win as a collective through complete team performances. Yes, it sounds simplistic, but not easily achieved. Roberto Martinez side cannot wait until March to begin their Great Escape this time around. The Premier League is far too competitive this season. And Martinez needs to stop complaining about calls against his team and do what he does best: using his superior tactical ability to manage his team to victory. Theres no time better than this weekend at the DW against West Ham to end their six-match winless streak. 16) Aston Villa (1-2-5, last week: 15) – Back-to-back away losses have taken away any momentum gained through positive play. And more problematic is the inability to create in attack. Paul Lambert finally handed striker Darren Bent a return to the starting XI at Fulham, but no progress was made. Aston Villa only managed one shot on target at Craven Cottage. Lambert faces his former team, Norwich City this weekend. The heat will be turned up even more on the manager if Villa fails to pick up maximum points at home. The importance of this weekend cannot be understated. 17) Norwich City (1-3-4, last week: 18) – Manager Chris Hughtons job was saved for another week after an improbable 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Carrow Road. The Canaries had conceded a combined nine goals in the two matches prior. Grant Holt has scored in three straight – impressive considering theyve come against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Weakness down the wings will continue to limit the team, forcing them to play narrow. And John Ruddy remains one of the busiest goalkeepers in the BPL. 18) Queens Park Rangers (0-3-5) last week: 19) – The performances are getting better for QPR but the results have not followed. Junior Hoiletts opener and the soft sending off of Evertons Steven Pineaar wasnt enough to help QPR to their first win of the season.  Everything seems far too disjointed and a lack of familiarity on the field remains a problem. For all Captain Park Ji-Sung has accomplished in his Premier League career, he has failed to yet make the desired influence at Loftus Road. Better days are ahead, but will Mark Hughes still be around when they come? 19) Southampton (1-1-6, last week: 17) – The worst team defensively in the Premier League and its not even close. The Saints have conceded 24 goals – thats seven more than any other team in the BPL. A 4-1 loss at fellow promoted side West Ham is unacceptable. 16 of those goals against have come in four matches away. Goal scoring hasnt been a problem (13), even with star winger Gaston Ramirez out through injury (thigh). Manager Nigel Adkins job security depends on tightening things up at the back.  20) Reading (0-3-5, last week: 20) – Its been a tough re-introduction to top-flight football for Reading. Its a place where hard work simply isnt enough to secure points every week. The team has been full marks for effort, but do not have the quality to remain competitive. A clear lack of cutting edge remains the Achilles heal. Pavel Pogrebnyak needs better service to be consistently effective. Its hard to see how they get out of the relegation zone. - Arsenal v QPR from Emirates Stadium airs across the TSN and TEAM Radio Networks Saturday October 27th, with coverage kicking off at 9:30am et/6:30am pt.
