We are only human and not perfect by any means, we can not achieve perfection nor be expected to ever be perfect in life, only God is perfect ! Yet , the myth still remains, that no matter how much we try to be good & caring, loving & kind, compassionate, knowledge & wise this does not make you perfect.
The perfection, something many strive for but none truly ever reach, is because the more we work to be perfect the more we seem to find fault in ourselves. The mere thought that we can ultimately achieve some form of perfection, is nothing more than an inflated ego with great delusional abilities. There is no man, woman or child on this earth, who can achieve perfection and to try is just a big waste of time and energy. Inevitably, we can still achieve & strive for great and miraculous things for ourselves, but we will have ultimately made many mistakes involved in the process. The mistakes and faults we make, are what shapes us into who and what we are, for through them, we learn and grow spiritually and find our inner strengths and courage. I believe more often-then-not, many are perfectionists out of their fear of failure or some kind of unnecessary & unwarranted desire to be accepted simply by peer pressure. Many over-achievers and perfectionist in life are driven, encouraged & motivated by the dreams and expectations of their parents, significant other and peers. They live their lives for others & they haven't begun to realize, that the only dreams and expectations they need to worry about is their own. God has given & instilled in each & every one of us, the creative & unique talents & priceless gifts and a meaningful more purposeful use for them. We should be more concerned what God wants from us and set our goals by what we know, we can truly achieve. To set ourselves up by too low or too high a goal for our abilities, is only setting us up for either failure or wasting these glorious & special talents and gifts God has given us. Through God, we can achieve most anything that is within the will of God. For God knows, we are not perfect by any means and that we can not achieve perfection by any measure on our own. So why then, do we put so such attention & importance on ourselves or others being perfect, if God doesn't expect it out of any of his children? God only expects us to try, to do & give our very best and to do it for His glory. So give up on being perfect and start to embrace the idea of doing the very best you can, because you are worth it and remember, with GOD everything in life is possible .
