These two badges I am showing here are just a few of the awards that I received while I served in the Army for 10 years (4 Active and 6 Reserve) and they are the ones that probably bring me the most satisfaction of any awards that I received.
Drill.gif
Yes, I spent some time as a Drill Sergeant, three years as a matter of fact while I was in the Reserves and that was probably one of the most rewarding times of my life, taking a part in molding a young man or woman from a civilian into a soldier. Contrary to popular belief we are not mean sadistic people who thrive on making people suffer.
We have a difficult job to perform and not as much time as we would like to do it and we do it to the best of our abilities. What the Drill Sergeant imparts to the trainee may one day mean the difference between life and death on the battlefield.
There was a poster I once saw while I was going through Basic Training that made it all very clear to me and the caption was,
"LET NO MAN'S SOUL CRY OUT 'IF ONLY I HAD THE PROPER TRAINING' "
CMB.gif
I was awarded this while serving in the Persian Gulf during Desert Shield / Desert Storm. This was basically for providing medical aid to wounded and injured personnel while under fire from an enemy force.
I HOPE I DO NOT HEAR OF ANYONE BREAKING THIS ONE OR SEE DELETED

Yes It is like that!

Count your blessings, pray for them,

Talk to your Creator
and
the next time when...

the other car cuts you off and you must hit the brakes,
or you have to p ark a little further from Walmart than you want to be,
or you're served slightly warm food at the restaurant,
or you're sitting and cursing the traffic in front of you,

or the shower runs out of hot water,

Think of them...

Protecting your freedom!

The proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our fallen comrades. So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I
was wondering if there was any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that "WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN" and are pro ud to serve our country." Semper Fi
1stSgt Dave Jobe

The attached photo was forwarded from one of the last U.S. Marine companies in Iraq. They would like to have it passed to as many people as possible, to let the folks back home know that they remember why they're there and that they remember those who've been lost.

A Soldier Is.................

A Soldier Is:

Soldiers come in all shapes, shades, weights, sizes, and states of sobriety, misery, and confusion. He is sly as a fox, has the nerve of a dope addict, the stories of an old sailor, the sincerity of a politician, and the subtly of Mt. Saint Helen. He is extremely irresistible, totally irrational and completely indestructible.

A Soldier is a Soldier all his life. He is a magical creature.

You can kick him out of your house but not out of your heart. You can take him off your mailing list but not off your mind. Soldiers are found everywhere... in love...in battle... in lust... in trouble...in debt...in bars and ... behind them.

No one can write so seldom and yet think so much of you. No one else can get so much enjoyment out of a letter or clean clothes or a six pack.

A Soldier is a genius with a deck of cards.

A millionaire without a cent and brave without a grain of sense.

He is the Protector of America, with the latest copy of playboy in his back pocket.

When he wants something it's usually 30 days leave, music that hurts the ears, a five dollar bill...or a woman he can count on.

Girls love them, mothers tolerate them, fathers brag about them, sisters support them, the government pays them too little, the police watch out for them and somehow they all work together. You can beat their bodies but not their minds.

You can tame their hearts but not their souls.

He likes girls, females, women, ladies, and the opposite sex.

He dislikes small checks, working weekends, answering letters, missing chow, waking up, maintaining a uniform, and the day before payday.

You may as well give in. HE IS YOUR LONG DISTANCE LOVER...he is your steel eyed, warm smiling, blank minded, hyperactive, over reacting, curious, passive, talented spontaneous, physically fit, good for nothing bundle of worry.....

And will always be there for you regardless of how long its been since you've last talked.

If you are a soldier or just support them, Repost this

Please spread this around

If you love your freedom and you support our troops please repost this!!!

This is an old Army recruiting video from the early 90's which I had not seen in AGES and even to this day it brings a tear or two to my eyes whenever I see it.

I had been chatting with an Army recruiter this afternoon and I had mentioned this particular video and right away he did a little bit of digging through some old DVD's he had and found it and damn if he did not give me the whole DVD for me to take home and grab what I wanted off of it. Needless to say the next time I stop by there, I am probably gonna have to treat him to a beer or a cup of coffee. Or better yet I will probably buy the guy dinner!!!!

Enjoy!!

Something to think about

Things that make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:

A. FDR led us into World War II.

B. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost . An average of 112,500 per year.

C. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea . North Korea never attacked us .. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ... An average of 18,334 per year.

D. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us

E. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost .. An average of 5,800 per year.

F. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us . He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

G. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled Al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.

But Wait!!!!!

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation..

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida !!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a GREAT JOB !

The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant to realize the facts

But Wait

There's more!

JOHN GLENN

(ON THE SENATE FLOOR)

Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This IS a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):

"How can you run for Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):

"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... As I went the other day... To a veteran's hospital and look those men ... With their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't hold a job!"

"You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have gone, to the widows and Orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee... And you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their DADS didn't hold a job."

"You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery , where I have more friends buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch yhose waving flags."

"You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?"

What about you?"

For those who don't remember. During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the USA Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.

If you are reading it in English thank a Veteran.

It might not be a bad idea to keep this circulating

How American Am I?

You Are 100% American
american4.jpg
You're as American as red meat and shooting ranges.
Tough and independent, you think big.
You love everything about the US, wrong or right.
And anyone who criticizes your home better not do it in front of you!

You just have to love the Marines!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I Want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes."

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting."

It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence.

The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What the world is the matter with you? Why did you do that?"

The Marine calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff like that and act like that. So, He sent me."
