Liberty Services was raided by the FBI and all gold, silver, and records, confiscated. Liberty Services distributes a private currency called the Liberty Dollar. Unlike the U.S. dollar, the Liberty Dollar is backed by gold and silver. Despite statements by the U.S. Treasury departmen that the Liberty Dollar is legitimate, Liberty Services has been continually harrassed by the government, culminating in a statement from the U.S. Mint last year that use of the Liberty Dollar is a federal crime. (The truth of the matter is that there is NO law prohibiting the use of private currencies in the United States so long as they are not represented as "legal tender" or official U.S. currency. Numerous other private currencies abound in the U.S. Among these are the Ithaca Hour and the Phoenix Dollar.) The Liberty dollar has been available in two three forms: "hard" currency in either gold or silver, certificates that were redeemable for a specified amount of gold or silver, and electronic currency which was also redeemable for gold or silver. Since the government stole the gold and silver that backed the certificates and electronic currency, those monetary instruments have become worthless. (hopefully just for the time being). So...the government stole my money..and that of thousands of other people. The message from Bernard von NotHaus can be found here: http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/FBIraidslibdol.php More information of the Liberty Dollar can be found here: www.libertydollar.org Please contact your government representatives and the FBI and express your displeasure with this obvious display of tyranny. Please sign this petition. It is a petition to the GOP to allow Dr. Ron Paul to continue in the debates. There is a move out of cut him out of the rest of the debates. We are trying to counter that move. Even if you don't side with Dr. Paul..I hope that you will support his right to continue to debate his opponents in an open public forum. The link to the petition is here: http://www.petitiononline.com/RPRNC08/petition.html
It must be incredible to be a member of the all knowing media. I mean, they have to be all knowing for them to have already decided which candidates for office stand a chance of being elected and which don't. For example..they've already written Dr. Ron Paul off as a mere amusement. However, the people have said twice now that He is the man they want to run this country. After the first debate, initially Dr. Paul was not included in any of the post debate polls..after an overwhelming outcry from the people..he was included in polls from MSNBC and ABC News among others. And Dr. Paul OVERWHELMINGLY came out ahead of all the other candidates...thousands of votes of support compared to hundreds for his nearest competitors. At MSNBC Dr. Paul has the absolute highest approval rating and the lowest disapproval rating..by a HUGE margin. After this latest debate, FOX News puts him at 25%..just behind Mitt Romney (who has 29%). Giuliani is not even close. Yet still the media ignores Dr. Paul or treats him as insignificant. Well, WE know different. Dr. Ron Paul is the best man for president. Ron Paul for President in 2008!
Dr. Ron Paul is one of the contenders for the GOP nomination for President. He is a long time congressman from the State of Texas. He was included in the recent GOP debate although the mainstream media ignored him afterward. Here is a link to a video of his debate responses and a link to a news article about the media blackout concerning Dr. Paul. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Hfa7vT02lA http://www.lewrockwell.com/woods/woods67.html Research him. Visit his website at: www.ronpaul2008.com. And do whatever you can to make sure he gets on the ballot..then vote for him!

Failure..

My first attempt at a salute photo failed. I think perhaps that the screen of my computer didn't show clearly enough. I only have access to my quick cam here though, and it doesn't take great photos. I may need to wait until I get home to take my salute photo...unfortunately that is over three weeks away... Any thoughts?

Time to weigh in on Iraq.

I'm so sick of "official" sources telling the public how wonderful morale is among the troops and about how fully behind the administration we are when it comes to the Iraq CONFLICT (no war was ever declared by Congress). The last straw was this bullshit report on how the new long term deployment will actually be good for marriages. WHAT? Who are they kidding? Not those of us who actually serve in the military. Not our spouses. I am a Staff Sergeant (SSG) in the United States Army. I am one of the two ranks that works most closely and directly with all of the enlisted ranks. As such, I do know what the soldiers think and say about the Bush administration and the situation if Iraq. Few of us believe that Iraq is a cause worth fighting for. Few of us have confidence in the administration and the President's plan for Iraq. NONE of us believe that the extended deployments will be good for our marriages. We are sick and tired. We are demoralized. We welcome the extra money we get as a result of the deployments but no amount of money can compensate us for the time we miss watching out children grow up, the birthdays we miss. We continue to serve for various reasons but few of us do so out of a believe that the Iraq conflict is just or out of loyalty to the Commander in Chief.

School...

I've been here at Fort Sill, Oklahoma since April 12 for Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC). It's going ok. There is not much to do on Fort Sill and Lawton is boring. I've been spending too much money on DVDs (movies and tv series) just so that I will have something to keep myself occupied and out of trouble. School is going well. I passed the Army Physical Fitness Test with my best run time in about 4 years. I ran two miles in 14:50. I also passed my first two written tests. Things are going well. A shout out for Bella Mia. It's a great restaurant on Fort Sill Boulevard in Lawton. They have incredible Italian food and a great atmosphere. It would be a great place to take a significant other for a date!

weather has turned.

It's cold again. I am grateful for the nice weather this week and the chances I was afforded to ride my Harley. It's snowy and expected to remain very cold all week. Looking forward to the warm weather again.
This has been the snowiest winter I've seen here on Fort Carson, Colorado in the 10 years that I've lived here. But the last two day it's been rather nice. Temps have reached up into the low 50s and that has allowed me and several of my fellow bikers to ride! I was the first though..I broke my bike out of the snow and ice three days ago, shoveled a path to our street and rode to work! It's still to cold to do any serious riding but it's so nice to be back on the bike. I have ridden year round since I got my bike, a 2003 Harley Davidson Softail, but this winter it's been too snowy to do much riding.
