My Dad's so sweet. He came over today while my Mum was at her weekly quilting bee. He brought me crushed ice, chocolate, mint tea, tofu 'cream cheese', ginger ale and juice. Oh yeah, and a load of clean laundry that my Mum did for me at their house. Then he took out my trash and checked my mail before going home to eat his lunch. Don't know what I'd do without them! He's 75 and she's 74. High school sweethearts, they have been married to each other for 52 years. It will be 53 on April 8th... *note* He did all of that for me while I was laid-up on disability, with my right arm in a cast up past the elbow from a work injury...

Today is the 26th of February. On the 26th of December my car was totaled with me and my friend in it. Not my fault, but painful and a hassle. I just got the replacement check for it YESTERDAY! On the 26th of January I fell on a wet floor at work and shattered my wrist. My right wrist and yes, I am right handed. It took the work comp Doc 3 weeks before he decided I needed surgery to screw a metal plate in to hold the worst of it together because it wasn't healing and wasn't staying aligned like the ER Doc set it. That surgery was 12 days ago and I'm doing much better now. Today is the 26th of February SO, I'm hiding in the house. I'm not going downstairs to check the mail. I'm not going to take out the trash, I'm not even going to open the front door or step out on my balcony. I'm hoping that will break the pattern...

I had the surgery Friday on my shattered wrist. It took 90 mins to screw a titanium plate into the palm side. I'm told it required two incisions and several stitches. So my scar collection grows... A 6 inch incision on the inside of my arm (great I'll look like a failed suicide) and a somewhat shorter one on the outside of my arm. Good thing there's not a vain bone in my body. The pain was pretty great the first 48 hours, so since I live alone I stayed with my folks for two nights, and let them take care of me. Don't know what I'd do without them! I'm back at home now with my three fur babies, and we are all glad of that! The swelling is pretty bad still in spite of constant icing cuz I'M A SWELLER!

I love that Disney is bringing one of my favorite childhood stories to life, and with one of my favorite actors Jim Carey. It's a great story with a wonderful message for life. But selfishly speaking I gotta love it cuz FINALLY, people will get what I mean when I repeatedly holler "BOIL THAT DUST SPECK!"

Dr. Mohler's report for expedited authorization of my CT scan says I have "comminuted fractures of the distal radius and ulna." Comminuted is a fancy medical term that simply put means fractures that shatter the bone into a lot of small pieces. He also states that "both fractures are articular", articular means joint, and my "radius is moderately shortened and angulated-about 10 degrees dorsal angulation. There is considerable dorsal radial metaphyseal comminution" which means the under side of my radius between the end and the middle of the bone, the wrist, is shattered into a lot of small pieces... but, "the radiocarpal articulation appears anatomically aligned." radiocarpal articulation = wrist joint. So, both arm bones are shattered into a lot of little pieces, near the wrist/hand joint end of both bones, the largest bone being "considerably" shattered at the wrist as well.

You meet and spend a weekend with someone new. You think they're pretty special and that all things considered the weekend went reasonably well. You hear from them daily afterwards, you don't see them the next weekend but make plans to spend the following weekend together. You are both looking forward to it as far as you know. The Thursday night before that weekend, you are told by this person that basically they've had a better offer from someone whom they just met, and therefore won't be spending the weekend with you after all. Clearly you have been rudely and summararily dismissed. Kicked to the curb. Like an old DVD you started to watch, then popped-out when a new one arrived. Any reasonable person would realize this is the last you will hear from them. At least they were honest and had enough spine to tell you the truth. Mostly...
