You know, this weekend is Mother’s Day Weekend. For Sunday is Mother’s Day. I would have thought MSN .com would had a trillion and one things dedicated to Mothers. Not so, there is a blurb on Fatherhood and the 10 most important rules for Fatherhood. Under Dad Laws. Oh, I miss it, there was something, it was from FTD .com bless their heart trying to sell flowers. Not one blurb on what Mothers are, they do have done for us in each and every step of our lives. Many of you know I lost my Mother years ago. No she didn’t leave on a trip or lost her in the woods or anything of that nature. Cancer took her at I feel the young age of 70 and although she is gone in the physical sense she lives on in my heart, in things I do and things I don’t do. She raised me to be who I am today. Oh yeah Dad was there too, but not in the presence she was. He was more of the work, work, work type and he did things but not like she did. I have seen many poems, writings of what is a Mother and who she really is and I somewhat agree. I mean let’s take out the authors of those prints. It becomes just words written of a special person who…well who gives love when there is little in the coffer to give. Makes a meal out of three strands of spaghetti and although it did not look good it hit the spot. She also makes sure we have clean undies on in case of an accident. She is the first to clap when you strike out at the plate and even though you missed the ball she was just happy you had the chance to miss it. Endless presents hugs and kisses when you never wanted kisses and hugs. Had an award winnings smile for you when disaster struck and you lost that all important boyfriend / girlfriend. Always found a dollar where no dollar was to be seen when you only needed change. Had the house lined with pictures of dumb events you did, painted or made with your hands. Wow she should have worn the red white and blue and have been called wonder woman for kissing scratches and bruise’s better. Was that ear that no one else seemed to have and knew that you just needed to get it off your chest. Was the Florence Nightingale of the world to each of us and the Joan of Arc in our defense. Yes many poems have been written and all may be true. All are true…When god created woman he made her in his own reflection but made her soft enough to be brittle when hurt. Strong enough to equal a man when her young were in trouble. I know many of super hero’s that could not stand up to good ole mom. She was always there, even when she was not always there. Oh yes we all have mothers, they may not be still with us, but will never leave us. Because they live on through you and me and our children and their children and so on…Celebrate her day. She deserves it as well as we all deserve to have love for someone who gave it, and continued to give when there was none given to her. She always gives but never takes…What an outstanding concept. What an outstanding person to look up to. Happy Mothers Day to you all because if you are not a Mom, you certainly were born of one…Test tube babies need not apply…just kidding she is in there somewhere.
