LOVE:
The Law of the goddess is love, starhawk tells us in the spiral dance, passionate sexual love, the warm affection of friends, the fierce protective love of mother for child, the deep comradeship of the coven. There is nothing amorphous or superficial about love in Goddess religion, she goes on to say. It is always specific, directed toward real individuals,not vague, consepts of humanity. It includes ourselves and al lour fallible human qualities.
Lots of mail come to this person asking them for spells, and almost as many letters from people who have created problems for themselves with love spells. Love spells are tricky for several reasons.
ETHICS:
The most effective love spells are those that compel someone to love or want you. You cast them on the object of your desire,imposing your will upon that person. These spells work . You get what you wanted or thought you wanted, but you violate the law. What you put forth gets returned to you THREEFOLD. Things that can go wrong include:
Having the person you won with the spell taken away by another.
Having a love spell cast on you;
Losing interest in the person but being unable to be rid of them.
THESE HAZARDS CAN BE AVOIDED IF YOU :
Invite attraction rather than compelling it;
Put the matter into the hands of the Goddess. Cast a love spell or use a love charm, but make it contingent on Her approval Add:
If You Will It, Make______________Mine.
Remember that learning to love yourself is the best way to bring love into your life.
THEIR VERY NATURE:
Love spells are serious. They can backfire on you and shouldn't be taken lightly. In trying to bind someone to you, you are also binding yourself to that person. This can complicate things when it is time to move on. It can cause you a lot of pain in your spell doesn't bring the person t you. Another danger is that you can overdo the intent or intensity of the spell and have things go badly wrong. Love Spells can be difficult to reverse, so be sure about your feelings before you cast one.
THE GODDESS OF LOVE:
Love Spells fall under the provenance of the Love Goddess, whether you call her Venus, Aphrodite, Hathor, Freya, Inanna, or byanother of her many names. To understand love spells, you have to understand the nature of the love Goddess. She is beautiful and cruel. You may get more than you gargainded for obsession rather than passion, or a stalker instead of a lover. She is capricious. Your spell may work but on the wrong person. The mating of humans is delightful to her. But beware she may have a different notion ofwho is a suitable partner for you Aphrodite laughs. Be careful.
Love and sexuality are paths, just as asceticism and celibacy are. The path of love brings both ecstacy and suffering, with spiritual lessons to be learned from each. All of that said, here are some.

LOVE SPELL
CANDLE SPELL
TO encourage someone to fall in love with you. This spell is adapted from an ancient one reported bythe poet Theocritus. It is best performed while the Moon is waxing. you will need.
A dozen rose the roses are an offering to the Love Goddess, so do not be cheap and use fewer than twelve.
A large candle ,the kind that will drip wax, with the name ofthe person written or carved on it a human shaped candle in the correct gender is great, if you can find one.
Aphotograph of the person, or a piece of paper with the name written on it.
A tray.
clear your altar or working surface . Set the photograph in the middle of the tray and place the candle on to pf it. Arrange the roses around it. Take the candle in your hands and say:
Candle, I name you__________the name of the person.
You must believe this as you say it, because it is your belief that make sit so. Place the candle back atop the photograph and light it. Keep repeating the spell as the candle burns, concentrating on your wish and being careful not to start a fire.

Allow the candle to burn down completely. Gather the roses, tie them together, and hang them upside down to dry. Pick up the wax-encrusted photograph once the wax has cooled. Safeguard these things in a secret place until the spell has worked. If you see no change by the next full moon. cast the spell again while the Moon is full-- but this time, cast it formally, within a circle.
