I need advice on renting my house out during the week of the Presidential Inauguration. I live just on the outskirts of Baltimore City, about an hour drive from DC. More and more I am hearing on the news that every hotel from VA to PA is booked that week. I have been planning on spending most of the month of January in Indiana with Shadow, and will be gone during the Inauguration. My basement is an apt that I rent to a nice gentleman, and I have discussed with him the possibility of him acting as host should I decide to rent the main part of the house.
My question is, has anyone done this before? What do I need to do to protect myself and my belongings? Any advice would be appreciated.
I checked on Craigslist, and people are renting their houses for up to $8000 for the week (four bedrooms.) Mine has two furnished bedrooms, so what should I charge? $4000?
