I am not one to MUMM, but I want to see what people have to say.
I got one of my credit card statements today, and there were over $60 of charges to various credit monitoring services. I did not authorize any of these charges, so I started making phone calls. I was infomed that several different people were using my CC info to sign up for credit card monitoring at $11.95 - $14.95 a pop. I cancelled the card, and called each agency asking to have the charges removed. I also reported to one of the Credit Reporting sites to log a fraud alert on my accounts. Once the fraud alert is placed, they should file a police report and persue the matter further. I was informed that I may want to also file one from my end. Now, if you aren't following here, they stole MY info to pay for THEM to have their credit history monitored - the police can easily access their name, address, SS number, etc. Can you say DUH?
So my question is, should I go ahead and file the report? Or let the agency handle it from their end?
Also, if anyone has any helpful advice, it is welcome.
Thanks |
