In the Thick of It
Collect specks of humanity or brutality.
Dissect, redirect, or correct
your one mistake,
all the souls you take.
Everything that’s at stake
is you.
Smile, laugh,
grin at your grave –
the ever-closer six feet under
and happily ever after.
Eat your sorrow and your rage.
They will never fill you up.
They are nothing.
Forget the endings and beginnings.
The heart of the story is where it’s at.
Savor the meat and flesh of your endless day.
The bittersweet,
yet oh so delicious,
contradictions will sustain you.
