They said you died with honor
And served your Country well
The day they brought you home
Was the first day of my HELL
You said it was your calling
That it was worth any sacrifice
I respected your opinion
And understood your need
I wrote you through Basic
and visited after A.I.T.
I moved near where you were stationed
So you could come over when off duty
I couldn't live with you
As that's not the Military way
They'll let you fight for our Country
Just as long as you're not GAY
You are the woman I loved
From high school into college
But when you joined the Army
We had to hide that knowledge
We said our vows in private
Whenever we could
It's a shame that our Country
Never understood
You are my Wife
As I am yours
Even though we were never wed
We were bonded by a Loving Force
I understand that you did
What you were called to do
And I know that you know
My Love for you will ALWAYS be true
