Good Morning. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day for those of us that carry Irish in our blood or those wanna-be’s makes no difference on this day we all have Irish eyes smiling down on us from above. No matter if the blood that runs thru your veins is Irish, Scottish, British, Asian and American or all others, this day is to honor Saint Patrick. Maewyn Succat The name St. Patrick was given to him later in life by Pope Celestine. Maewyn has many tales and legends attributed to him but why do we celebrate this day? He brought Christianity to Ireland and it also is believed he chased the snakes out of Ireland… The jury is still out whether or not there were any snakes to begin with…but the Holiday marks this day as the death of this great man. Interesting reading can be found under various search engines on Saint Patrick. So whether you believe in Irish magic, Leprechauns or the famous pot of gold beneath the rainbow Ireland is yet another great place on this big ole Earth that celebrates their heritage on this day. Many business’s closed except Restaurants and Pubs and where would we be without an Irish toast, and let us say one to one of god’s greatest creations. The woman. Drink to her who long Hath waked the poet's sigh; The girl who gave to song What gold could never buy. Oh! Woman’s heart was made for minstrel hands alone! By other fingers played, It yields not half the tone. Then here's to her who long Hath waked the poet's sigh, The girl who gave to song What gold could never buy! At beauty's door of glass When wealth and wit once stood, They asked her, "which might pass?" She answered, "He who could." With golden key wealth though To pass - but 'twould not do; While wit a diamond brought Which cut his bright way through! Then here's to her who long Hath waked the poet's sigh The girl who gave to song What gold could never buy! The love that seeks a home Where wealth and grandeur shines, Is like the gloomy gnome That dwells in dark gold mines . But oh! The poet's love Can boast a brighter sphere; Its native home's above, though woman keeps it here! Then drink to her who long Hath waked the poet's sigh, We pinch our neighbors, conjure images of leprechauns with their pots of gold, and even partake in traditional Irish cuisine. So whether you recognize March 17th for its jovial spring celebration, its deeply-rooted piety, or as a fashionable day to wear green, remember the true meaning of the holiday and may the luck o’ the Irish be with you. Now go buy a box of Lucky Charms Cereal and knock yourself out… A huge Irish hug and Pinch! Oh…and many Irish Pats Marrtay..
