Good Morning. You know me, I see something that needs attention and I go after it. What in the world is going on in Mississippi? Have you seen this article yet? JACKSON, Miss. - A state lawmaker wants to ban restaurants from serving food to obese customers — but please, don’t be offended. He says he never even expected his plan to become law. “I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi,” said Republican Rep. John Read of Gautier, who acknowledges that at 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, he’d probably have a tough time under his own bill. More than 30 percent of adults in Mississippi are considered it obese, according to a 2007 study by the Trust for America’s Health, a research group that focuses on disease prevention. The state House Public Health Committee chairman, Democrat Steve Holland of Plantersville, said he is going to “shred” the bill. “It is too oppressive for government to require a restaurant owner to police another human being from their own indiscretions,” Holland said Monday. The bill had no specifics about how obesity would be defined, or how restaurants were supposed to determine if a customer was obese.
Al Stamps, who owns a restaurant in Jackson, said it is “absurd” for the state to consider telling him which customers he can’t serve. He and his wife, Kim, do a bustling lunch business at Cool Al’s, which serves big burgers — beef or veggie — and specialty foods like “Sassy Momma Sweet Potato Fries.” Oh hold me back, let’s examine the problem here… First off, the Government needs to take care of issues that it was meant to take care of and leave those issue that are not pertaining to them the heck alone!!! How about the whole steroid issue in baseball for one… What part of Government does that have to do with anything and why do they need a senate committee to convene on it? So now they are talking about getting their nose into more sports, The latest is what some like to call SPY-GATE (named after Watergate… Is Nixon going to be plucked out of the ground to testify on this? I hope not… ewww… Spy-gate is the filming of other teams signals, bad , bad patriots, bad.. now go back to your corner and find a new way to play. So once more Government pops in where it should just leave well enough alone, here is a thought did you know that Dominos or is it Pizza Hut has like a hot line for the major staff committees around important meetings… oh they order PIZZA but the truck loads…and they talk about passing a bill to keep people who are deemed over weight out of places that serve greasy food… here is an idea make the food more healthier. I mean problem solved… I just love being told where I can eat and where I can’t by officials hundreds of miles away from me. I do not plan to frequent that diner and hopefully others also plan on not doing the same, perhaps the Law Maker will get his wish… to slowly go out of business! While I am on that thought, I just thought of a group topic in Ask Your Neighbor! Pet Peeves, what is yours and how can we help stop it. Oh and while I am on that subject… Pet peeves… wow, I am like a loose Jelly bean rolling this way and that… Why on earth do we need sensors in our cars to turn on the wipers when rain hits the windshield? I mean how lazy assed have we come to not be able to flick on the wiper switch when it rains???? Oh my gosh I am on the peak of the soap box again…someone help my disgruntle ass down… To think government has any right in any of what I said… well they did not have anything to do with the wipers deal… I just added that in after seeing a car ad on TV promoting a sensor for wipers…ewwwww I get so worked up over being so worked up… Have a Marvelous Fat Tuesday
