Interests
I was that which others did not want to be, I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do, I asked nothing from those that gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness should I fail, I have cried, pained and hoped; but most of all I have lived times others would say are best forgotten. At least one day I can be proud of what I was and will ALWAYS be..."A United States Marine!"
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something.
~Plato~
When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty
~Unknown~
A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.
~Edward R. Murrow~
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
~George Orwell~
The marvel of all history is the patience with which men and women submit to burdens unnecessarily laid upon them by their governments.
~William H. Borah~
The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government.
~Franklin Delano Roosevelt~
Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death.
~Sun Tzu~
The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only object of good government.
~Thomas Jefferson~
The mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few to ride them.
~Thomas Jefferson~
If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.
~Thomas Paine~
I come in peace, I didn't bring artillery. But I am pleading with you with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I'll kill you all.
~General James Mattis (USMC)~
Marines are about the most peculiar breed of human beings I have ever witnessed. They treat their service as if it was some kind of cult, plastering their emblem on almost everything they own, making themselves up to look like insane fanatics with haircuts to ungentlemanly lengths, worshiping their Commandant almost as if he was a god, and making weird noises like a band of savages. They'll fight like rabid dogs at the drop of a hat just for the sake of a little action, and are the cockiest SOB's I have ever known. Most have the foulest mouths and drink well beyond man's normal limits, but their high spirits and sense of brotherhood set them apart and, generally speaking, of the United States Marines I've come in contact with, are the most professional soldiers and the finest men I have had the pleasure to meet.
~Anonymous Canadian~
Visit the Navy-Yard, and behold a Marine, such a man as an American government can make, or such as it can make a man with its black arts, a mere shadow and reminiscence of humanity, a man laid out alive and standing, and already, as one may say, buried under arms with funeral accompaniments.
~Henry David Thoreau, Civil Disobedience, 1854~
In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons.
~Herodotus~
Democracy is a form of government that substitutes election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few.
~George Bernard Shaw~
We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
~John F. Kennedy~
The government is merely a servant -- merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn't. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.
~Mark Twain~
