Diets and Exercise Why at New Years do we all make the resolution to loose 40 lbs or some other crazy amount of weight knowing full well we don’t know how to do it or to keep that weight off? The odds are if you are big boned then you’ll never be as thin as you’d like to, but don’t give up! All this shit about diet and exercise is just a pain in the ass and it really frustrates people who don’t know much about diet or exercise. First, you want to determine what your goals are. Example I want to loose 30 lbs, but how do I do that? You need to say ok, big picture is 30 lbs; smaller picture is I need to eat well, sleep well, do my exercise and change some of my usual bad habits. Second, what foods do you love, but know are bad for you? My comfort food is potato chips. I eat them when I am stressed or bored. If you sit down and eat a whole large bag of chips then you deserve your large ass. Here is a tip. Buy smaller bags, try to eat that over two sittings, like as an afternoon snack and a mid evening snack. You get comfort and you didn’t go nuts on a large bag. Eat Breakfast; find things which are high in fiber. Fiber helps to burn fat as it digests, and eating fiber in the morning will help you get your body going and by burning that fat first thing in the morning. Have Ovaltine, or oatmeal with fruit, or orange juice. Those things will help you loose weight Have a light lunch, a salad leafy greens, you get more fiber and add to it sliced ham, some shredded cheese and tomatoes. You’ll love it and you’ll get lots of fat burning benefit from it as well. Have some meat with dinner, but try to eat light, no potatoes, or pasta if you don’t lead an active lifestyle. I rarely to never eat potatoes, because they are too high in starch and it goes to your ass in a hurry! Snacking, like I said, eat the foods you love, but cut down on the amount and frequency that you eat it. Exercise! Go for a walk; walk a little more briskly than you usually would. People think that you have to have your heart going like a speed train to loose weight. Actually, if you keep your heart beating at a high rate you burn muscle and not fat. If you don’t have much muscle in the first place you get tired quickly and eventually give up. Keep your heart rate around 130 to 150 beats per minute. In this range your body uses fat as an energy source and you’re not over tiring your muscles. Arrange to walk 3 times a week. Create a 12 plan for weight loss combine these tips about eating and activity. Plan walks 3 times a week and write down your heart rate before during and after each exercise, how far you went and how long it took. Use your arms as you walk! All simple and good for more than loosing weight. It helps you stay off the pc for a bit as well and sometimes we all need that for stress reduction.
