Ahmad Shiradar was dead, the victim of a murderer's poison. That was the end of Captain Black's vacation. The Egyptian police asked for his help as soon as they learned he was in the country. Soon, the Captain was at the scene of the crime, a hotel room in Cairo. The room was very hot, over 100 degrees.
The police had picked up three suspects. Captain Black questioned them in the room.
The first suspect was very nervous. "Captain," he said, pouring himself a drink from the water pitcher, "I swear I'm innocent."
The Captain believed him and sent him out so fast he didn't have time to drink his water.
The second suspect was very cool. "Yes, I hated Ahmad. But I didn't kill him." He paused. "May I have some water?"
"Please get a cup out in the hall, and send in the next suspect," said the Captain.
When the third suspect came into the room, his face was flushed and his clothes were sweaty.
"You look hot," said Captain Black. "Care for a glass of water?"
"No," said the suspect, clearing his throat. "I'm too upset to have anything."
"I'll have to upset you a bit more," said Black. "You're under arrest for murder!"
