"Dancing" - (would you care to dance?) -

PARTYdancinglady.gif 6514133c.gif I just love "dancing" that is what this long blog is all bout ... So my "CherryTAP" friends, pop some popcorn and kick up your feet. (or - if you want to join me, put on your dancing shoes) Maybe I'm wrong, but because I'm really not sure if dancing is in vogue now-a-day? I think it's somewhat in the pop culture with the hit TV series "Dancing with the stars" doing well. I'm not sure of the demograph of the veiwing public ... Is it young viewer both female and males from 25-35 range? I've never seen the show, but it seems to be mention in other forms of the media - so, it must be doing all right. Funny, I mentioned the demograph of the viewers ... _charlie_grandson_watching_tv_lg_wm.gif I probably could figure it out after watching the commercials on during the show. If they are geared for younger audiences ... you'd see games, shoes and movies in the ads. If it's the male viewers in the target age group of 15-25 - it's beer, cars, sports and credit cards. Girls that age demograph - clothes, (shopping sales), shoes & travel. The females in the 25-35 - (and this is sad to me) food, household supplies & kids needs and credit cards recovery. Yeah, if you are 25-35 female ... the advertising geniuses believe that your hungry, married with children and in need of credit repair. (ugh) (it's not my idea - or thoughts, just how they see their advertising dollars leaning too) I find it funny, when our parent were our ages: the advertisers thought the best money spent for an ad would of been a target demograph of 25-35 year old males. Now the target is for younger males and females in the pre-teen and late teen years. Like they have any money? Oops ... THEY DO! Our MONEY! *shakes head* Kids get pretty much anything they want. Most of the time if it's within our means as parents, well get it for them. I know I'll do without something I need to give into a childs wants ...er um needs! Oh, I better two-step my way to the subject at hand "Dancing" girldancing.gif Growing up, I was always around dancing. Remember, kiddies ... This was a different time and laws: My parents would take me to the local beer joint (as it was called back then) I'd watch the girls shaking their little tails off ... twisting the night away After they were half lit, they would come to the table ... and tug me on to the floor. I liked it ... I danced right along with them, till I'd tucker out. dancinggirl.gif Ahhh, the good old days ... no, babysitter? eh, take the kid along - no problem! (I know, great parenting) cavedude.gif In my time, (age group) we've seen progression of dance. I went from watching my folks do those 50-60's style of dance to many different fads. Watching Gene Kelly and Fred & Ginger on the old Black & White tube, To seeing Elvis doing the hip shaking that made TV censors nervous. dancinggirl2.gif Oh, the sixties and early 70's really had things 'free style' with no particular 'steps' You just go out there and do what felt right. (although it often look soooo wrong) About the time I was wanting to dance as a pre-pubescence teen, I went to a 50's theme 'Dance off' in my first Jr. High dance ... and WON! (woot) (see, the bad parenting skills gave me some skills that came in handy down the line) I was doing the 'bump' and the 'shaky ground' and loved slowing things down - as the DJ annouced: "Last chance for romance" Those slow dances where Elton John or Berry Mannalow were crooning before "Power Ballets" were the evening ending dances. I went from watching "Vinny Bobbareno" to a movie that set the dance floors to a new level ... "Saturday Night Fever" disco_ball.gif had me trading my faded lee jeans and *long locks of hair, for a leisure suit and a pompadour hair style. (which marked the first time I went to a "Stylist" instead of a *"Barber") ... *er, well I didn't see one of those much either Disco ruled the charts, and I "hustled" right along with the "Bee-Gee's" ... Then as though it was like kissing your sister - Disco was dead!onedudedancing.gif I was in 4 High School "Senior Talent Shows" the first one, I was a freshmen ... My sister was the 'cool' senior cheerleader and her group of friends recruited me to dance ... You see, not many MEN danced ... with the whole, free style or disco - 'question mark' on what KIND of dance was cool. Me? Heck my sisters HOT (those days it would been 'FINE') girlfriends wanted me to dance, on stage ... where MORE hot girls would watch ... Yeap! Sign me UP!!! So we danced to "Sir Nose" of "Parliament" and the velvet underground. (I was the first kid to be in a talent show all 4 years, that one -1 acting, 2 in bands) Well, by the time I moved to Florida, new dancing trend was growing ... Street dancers where making cash with a piece of cardboard ... "Break Dancing" stewiedance.gif I was still young, you know I had to learn ... Pop and lock was easy, I'd been doing a version of that since the 'Robot' The head spin, I didn't like (my long hair was back) so I learn a little move called: 'A back spin' what might be referred to as a 'spin-a-ronie' now days. I've been keeping up, I never fell too far away from the dance craze that be ... Although the older you get, you just don't jump on a dance floor at 40 plus years old and 'drop it like it's hot' without the kids backing away like you're in a DOC orange jumpsuit, whelding a gun. So - advanced age deters the dancer within ... I still get to shake it, when I go to a club with a lot of people around my age ... They all revert back to what they know and their comfort zone. If I have a willing date, I'll fit right in and do whatever the crowd doing ... If they hit a song from one of the era's I know ... I'll break to down, a little disco ... maybe the 'bump.' Shoot I'll twist it, "like I did last summer" or pop & lock and hit a spin if it doesn't make my date shriek off like the place caught fire! hotgirldancing.gif Dancing ... I guess I'm a good dancer, I know I love it. I watch the old couples do their thing: I love how a man guide the woman threw a crowded floor ... and if they are good - The floor parts. Others watch the effortless movements, how they sway with perfect rhythm and impeccable timing. Grace of two who seem to make the music be visibly as beautiful as it is to the ear. I often tell people that I'm going to get a job dancing on cruise ship when I retire. I hear they pay men that can dance pretty well to go on those cruise and dance with the single ladies. _dance1.gif Sounds like a perfect retirement to me, dance and flirt ... get paid. I hope if I take that job, if an "oldie" comes on -they wont mind a 60-70 year old man doing a pop & lock dropping it into a spin-a-ronie ... And if I do - my dance partner don't run off ... woman_getting_scared_lg_clr.gif (we would be on a ship after all) You know -- dancing men at that age is hard to find I guess ... With that I'll segue to: MY _NEW.gif
