Child Protective Services (CPS) and the court system seem to have resorted to a cheap tactic of profiling that is even more absurd than their previous fiascoes (anyone remember the Satanic panic of the 80's?) Well this time, they insist that Wiccans are unfit as parents in child custody cases due to popular but wildly untrue allegations of sacrifices and such. To make things even stranger, in the UK they have decided to take away the children of people who have an animal which has been abused on the grounds that this means they also would abuse their children, even if they haven't done so. Here in Seattle, several families have lost their children because they practice a BDSM lifestyle...the judges ruling that they are a danger to their children, despite that in the instances, the parents had no such compulsion and were well known to be fantastic parents.
Question is this: Do you think it is a fair practice to profile parents based on their own lifestyle choices and not based upon how the children are being treated or raised?
